This is a very good seam ripper with a great feature, it lights up your work. The first time I used it I was unpicking black thread on a black background. My husband thought I'd lost my mind because I let out a happy whoo-hoo since it was so easy to see the thread. This tool is now my go to Jack as in Jack the Ripper.

Opened up the package, flicked the switch, and light didn’t turn on. Since batteries are included, I double checked the batteries were inside and not corroded. I then checked the packaging for instructions - they make you scan the smart code and go to the madame sew website. Nothing on the website gives help to figuring out why it’s not working or if the batteries are placed wrong. I then tried to submit my question to the vendor through Amazon, but they make you call them. No email option. I called Madame Sew, no answer, just a scratchy recording on what seems to be a crap voip line. Are they really USA based? So after no help and much troubleshooting.. it seems the batteries were input incorrectly by the company! Oh and btw, this crap ripper is only $10 on the madame sew website. Finally I got it working, but after investing two hours getting it working.. it’s a piece of junk. Will find a better quality seam ripper and avoid Madame Sew products because of their zero customer service. Thanks Madame Sew, hope u reimburse my gas mileage to return this.

This nifty little seam ripper is a great addition to any sewers kit. It works wonderfully and I am so happy that I came across it. I highly recommend it 😀

I liked the concept of having a light, however the battery door kept falling off and now I can't find it. I wish that I could order just that part so it can be operational again.

After these teeny tiny batteries expire, I'll use this seam ripper without the light so it's really a plain old seam ripper. It's not such a great light and the teeny tiny batteries flew all over the room when I pulled out the tab so they'd supply power to the light. Maybe they are hearing aid batteries and most hearing aids now are rechargeable so it'd be hard to find them anyway. Maybe one AAA battery, or even better, rechargeable with a bright light...
