The Plunge Base features a plunge capacity range of 0 in. to 1-3/8 in. for easy penetration into the work piece. The fine depth adjustment has three preset depth stops for added precision. For added versatility, the Makita Plunge Base accepts industry standard template guides.

For the Makita mini router, there's no getting around having this. Some router bits are too big for the plunger that's included with the tool, which is ANNOYING, but understandable. Impressive precision, easy to use and still fits in the small tool bag I use to hold the tool and accessories.

I bought this for my battery power Makita Router to be able to do plunge cuts in my wood projects . This is so well made and so easy to use and to adjust. It turns it into a multi function tool. I wish that I had purchased the bundle when I first ordered the router. It would have gotten a lot more use but I’m making up for lost time.

I’m just getting into electric/battery powered tools, so I’m new to this stuff. It has been a long time since I was in Jr high wood shop class trying to remembering how to use these things. But I think I have it down, well and especially with this new router base. It really makes using the router much easier and safer, compared to the base that my mini router came with.This new base allows me to plunge the router into the material without having to make any adjustments, just downward pressure. The old base that came with the router was not very easily adjusted. You had to loosen a clamp, set your depth and then retihgten the clamp, although accurate, it was not as simple as this new base.The new base’s depth adjustment screw is so easy to use, and also has three adjustments so you can gradually get down to your final depth in the material. The three adjustments make it easier, as you don’t have to do it all in one go, but can be gradual, so as not to overheat the router.All in all very impressed with this tool, as with most Mikita tools that I have so far. Just wish this came separate instructions so I wouldn’t have to guess on how something works if I lost the router’s instruction booklet.

I had a Makita handheld router for a few years.I needed plunge functionality and got this.I was pleased to see that it snapped on, wrapped and clamped to my existing router with precision and tightness that is great.Everything lines up perfectly to the millimeter.Not that I didn’t expect that to happen, but with cheaper tools, this wouldn’t be the case.Overall the whole unit when attached to my router feels real solid, sturdy, quality. What you need when doing detail work with high speed bits.

This allows me to use my lightweight cordless trim router on my finger joint/dovetail jig. Also makes it useful on my sign making templates.

This was a great addition to my compact Makita router. The lockout takes some time to get accustomed to. There's not really much tangible feedback to let you know when it's engaged enough not to slip. Because of this I have to press hard on the lever to ensure engagement so it takes some force to disengage which can result in slipping off the template. Instead, I just apply enough downward force to keep the spring engaged. So far the product has worked well. I routed numerous 3/4" slots in a plywood bed frame support for ventilation. The router and plunge base handled the job well, although it took some trial and error with template guides (purchased separately).

If you have the correct router this is a really well made plunge base. One thing to keep in mind as hole the package is not any cheaper then full size router keep this in mind when buying the router but palm router in my opinion it is a must before the heavier version . It is much easier to handle it is lighter and will do most of the things a full size router will do.

Fantastic addition to my trim router. Having the ability to plunge to preset (adjustable) depths is really nice and helps increase efficiency when using the same bit for different parts of a workpiece. Not sure if it’s mentioned but you can lock the plunge base in place which I find handy. The handles allow for more controlled movement compared to the standard base that came with my trim router. Great purchase!
