About this item

  • Powered by two LXT batteries; x2 LXT technology delivers more power, speed and run time without the hassles of a cord
  • Makita built electronically controlled BL motor delivers 6, 000 RPM for maximum performance and 50% longer run time per charge
  • The BL Brushless motor eliminates carbon brushes, enabling the BL motor to run cooler and more efficiently for longer life
  • Automatic speed change technology adjusts cutting speed and torque during cut for optimum performance
  • x2 LXT technology delivers up to 610 crosscuts per charge in 2x4 spf lumber and up to 320 crosscuts per charge in 2x10 spf lumber using two 5.0Ah batteries

Makita, a pioneer in Brushless motor technology and battery innovation, combines both in the 18V X2 LXT (36V) Lithium-Ion Brushless 7-1/4” Circular saw kit (XSH06PT). it's powered by two 18V LXT Lithium-Ion batteries for maximum performance, and has an electronically-controlled BL Brushless motor that matches torque and RPM to the application. Makita 18V X2 means freedom from the cord, even for demanding applications like cutting sheet and dimensional lumber that traditionally called for a corded saw. Best of all, users can remain in one battery platform, using the same fast-charging 18V batteries with the XSH06PT as they use across the expansive Makita 18V LXT cordless tool system. The XSH06PT has a long list of features for efficient cutting without the cord. The electronically-controlled Brushless motor delivers a full 6, 000 RPM for efficient cutting, with automatic speed Change technology to adjust the cutting speed and torque under load for optimum performance. In internal testing, the XSH06PT made up to 600 cross-cuts per charge in 2x4 SPF lumber using two fully-charged 5.0Ah batteries. Added features include a large 2-11/16” cutting capacity at 90 degrees, and an Electric brake for maximum productivity. The saw has a die-cast magnesium base and blade guard with die-cast aluminum blade cover and motor housing, which combines durability with less weight (only 10.4 lbs. With batteries, sold separately). added features include a built-in dust blower to clean the line-of-cut, and a built-in tether notch (tether sold separately). it’s part of Makita’s expanding 18V Lithium-Ion system, the world’s largest cordless tool system powered by 18V Lithium-Ion slide-style batteries. Makita 18V Lithium-Ion batteries have the fastest charge times in their categories, so they spend more time working and less time sitting on the charger. For improved tool performance and extended battery life, Makita created Star protection Computer controls. Star protection is communication technology that allows the Star Protection-equipped tool and battery to exchange data in real time and monitor conditions during use to protect against overloading, over-discharging and overheating. For increased versatility, the tool can also be powered by Makita 18V LXT and compact Lithium-Ion batteries with the Star symbol on the battery indicating Star protection inside.

This is a great cordless option for the job site. I have worked in construction for about 30 years. This saw is strong enough to crosscut and plunge cut pressure treated lumber no problem. The saw comes with a framing blade that has a very thin kerf. The battery life is very good. I use the Makita 18v LXT line so I always have plenty of batteries anyway, but four 5ah batteries and a charger will last all day. The saw is probably a little on the heavy side for some, but if you are use to construction work then you won’t have any issue with the weight. To me it weighs about the same as a circular saw with a cord. Not having to deal with the cord all day is worth the weight. I had concerns before buying the saw because of a video review on you tube. In the video it shows a problem with the blade guard hanging up. I didn’t have a problem with this issue. The guard pushes back smooth when making cuts. The one in the review more than likely was a defect. I have over a dozen Makita 18v LXT tools. Two of them are over 10 years old. I only had a problem with a defective tool once. Good news is Makita has a great warranty.

I finally dumped my last Dewalt battery tool and completed my switch to Makita. Really impressed with this saw! Power is way better than the Dewalt (admittedly it was previous gen batteries, so I'm sure DW has improved as well) with literally zero bogging cutting through multiple 2x4's and ripping 1/2" plywood sheets. Power is comparable to my corded saw but, of course, this is so much easier to use. The saw is well-built, adjustments are tight, everything just works and works well. Recommended.

As a 20+ year carpenter, these tools have came a long way. This thing is a beast. No more cutting cords, which i was famous for.

It lives up to the expectations you would have for a Makita product. Powerful. Works.

I've used the DeWalt "60 volt max" and the Milwaukee with the 12AH battery and the thing that makes this the best is that it has a magnesium base that doesn't get bent and cause the saw to cut beveled for the rest of it's life. It is the cheaper of the three as well seeing that I purchased mine for $214 and that includes the saw, two 5AH batteries, double battery charger, and a carrying case. You could never get the Milwaukee or DeWalt for that price unless you're getting the bare tool only. My company uses Milwaukee for all their cordless tools and many people I know use DeWalt but ever since I tried Makita tools about twelve years ago I was hooked and everything I own is a Makita and now that includes this saw and I love it.

The circular saw arrived in a plain cardboard box that was in another larger cardboard box. The inner cardboard box was not a typical Makita labeled box. Just plain cardboard like it was bulk packaging. The only indication it was meant to be in this box is a flimsy cardboard support with a cutout for the saw guard which immediately collapsed once this boxed was shipped, I'm sure. This left the tool to roll around feely inside the box all the way to my house. At one point, the tool poked a hole through the inner box, which is most likely the reason Amazon put it in a bigger box, since typically they ship in the manufacturers packaging alone. There was also no paperwork in the box. No typical quick start or safety guide, which is strange to me. The tool passed the shipping test. It works perfectly and I can't see anything bent. This goes to show the quality and durability of Makita, but I would much rather see the tool arrive properly supported in the box. Better yet, in a manufacturer's labeled box. Otherwise, I would've given it 5 stars overall. Hopefully it will perform a long time like the rest of my Makita tools.

The great ergonomics of this soft start saw makes it a pleasure to use. Compared to the less expensive ones both corded and cordless that I've used in the past, this thing is night and day. Smooth, precise and powerful. I'm actually looking forward to excuses to get out my circular saw now. This is the 1st hand held circular saw in 40 years that I absolutely enjoy using. Much quieter as well!

I've been using power hand saws personally and professionally for 50 years, and this is my favorite! No cord hassle is a joy, but I got that with an 18v. under-powered Milwaukee saw in 2002, and was much more pleased with my Makita 18v 6 1-2" saw in 2015. But when this saw came - almost for free - just paid for a dual charger and four(!) 5ahr batteries,,,,, well I didn't have to be too bright to bite! The 7 1/4" 36 v saw is significantly heavier than my 6 1/2" 18v, so I still like the lighter one on a ladder or scaffold or working overhead; it's no strain on arm or wrist. But this new 7 1/4" 36v is no heavier than my old Makita corded saw, which could handle anything all day long. And this 36v seems to have just as much guts, and smooth! I couldn't believe how clean the cut was - in spf or handwood - even plywood! There was no splintering on the top side of 1/4" plywood when cutting cross-grain!! So now my old trusty Makita corded saw will be kept for back-up or for a museum piece for my great grandchildren. I'll be using for light duty my Makita 18v and for everything else this new sweet, smooth Makita 36v. It is not as noisy as a corded saw, and it's definitely noiser than a hot knife cutting through butter, but it's as smooth and clean through wood as that knife through butter. Buy it!

I am currently working on a 100+ year old seasoned hard wood and this saw makes light work of even that. The blade is extremely fine and cuts beautifully.Saw it self is nicely balanced and the visibility of the cutting tip is great.

Was looking for a spare saw to avoid the inconvenience of removing the Makita plunge saw from the saw table from time to time..found this and placed my order and was promptly received within a week.First impressions of the saw is ‘very Makita’.. solid and well build.Only down side is that the need to use a voltage converter as the battery charger is not dual switch and only support 110v..Overall very happy to add this into my power tool list.Highly recommended!
