Product Description

Malco Max2000 offset left cutting Aviation Snips features Euro-styled ergonomic handles and superior hardened blade edges for maximum cutting life. Textured, solid-colored, molded thermoplastic grips and finger stops compliment a narrower handle opening to fit large or small hands. An ambidextrous, thumb-operated handle latch and replaceable compression spring complete this user-friendly design. Riveted, head-to-handle compound linkage multiplies hand leverage applied by user. Linkage will not rattle or loosen ever! And an easily adjustable pivot bolt, with nylon locking nut, holds its adjustment securely for these hard-working aviation snips.

From the Manufacturer

Aviation style metal snip (red grip) with versatile offset handles for straight cuts and curved cuts to the left. Hardened alloy steel blades offer maximum cutting life. Superior material flow allows maximum maneuverability. Ergonomic handles maximize length of cut and hand's natural power stroke.

When I bought a pair of these about 5 years ago, I hesitated at the price. I had been wearing out the standard snips ($12-18) available at the big box and hardware stores, in a year or so. I wanted something better. At the time these Malco's were $30+, but I tried them anyway. End of story is: I will only buy these malco max2000 av snips anymore. They are sharp, they cut better, easier and whoa, do they last longer. I think they are a little larger in size but are still able to maneuver tight turns, the handle lock works well, I do some cutting of stainless steel also with these. Also, I'm not sure why, but these snips will start a cut at a very slight angle to an edge in light gauge sheet metal, rather than roll the edge over and not initiate a cut like cheaper snips. Great snips.

I've used these style snips the last 8 years. Definitely worth the money. Cuts metal flash, Roofing drip edge coilstock with ease. I've also used them to cut EPDM and Duralast after years of usage cutting metal. Also cuts 26 gage ribbed metal panels. All around great tool from Malco.

There's a lot of Midwest fanboys that will never admit it, but Malco snips are actually the best you can buy. Midwest is great, don't get me wrong. If you want to save a few bucks, and aren't looking for top of the line, just getting the job done, then you should buy Midwest. For me, the difference isn't entirely from the cutting blades being better, but also Malco has a much better spring action that doesn't open super wide and is much better for people that don't have huge hands, and they have a really nice easy access safety clip. Their usability is the best on the market by far. Spend the extra money and be proud of your snips.Source: I do precision aerospace and defense industry sheet metal. Well over 10 years now.

So I've had these snips for almost a year and all in all they are an excellent choice for cutting straight cuts or drive or something along those lines. It seems like one I'm cutting a square hole out of some duct the metal tends to pinch more which makes it harder just in general. It could just be in my head but it seems like Midwest snips separate the metal more and give more clearance so it's a smoother cut. Malco snips are still Sharp and have no problem cutting S and drive, like I said I just have an easier smoother cut with Midwest when I'm cutting a square hole out of big duct. Good snips but for the money I say Midwest is King.

I recently bought these and used them on corrugated aluminum and plastic translucent siding material. Nothing goes easily through the deep corrugations, but these go through much more easily than my previous snips, which now live in the bottom of the bin. I'm sure a power shear would be much easier, but they also cost much more. The blade lock is better thought out and better executed than on other snips I've seen, and the handles are long enough to give good leverage when you're working through the hard bits. So there you have it - I can't think of any way to make a manual snip better than these are, and none of the ones I've used have been as good. So these get one of my rare 5's.
