Very sturdy and professional looking. Love the extra 2 inch deep shelf. Bought the foot covers at an extra cost to protect my hardwood floors.

dusting off my violin and needed a stand. This is an excellent choice and reminds me of the stands I used to use.The stand feels sturdy and solid. Vertical adjustment is very easy, no knobs or dials, just go up and down. I'm 5'9" and I can raise it up past what I need to if necessary when I stand, drop it down if I sit.The base is solid, no adjustable feet, everything just sits and stays on the floor. The pencil shelf is very useful, for watches, pencils, etc.Everything just feels well put together, no wobble at all.Overall very satisfied with the quality and fit and finish of this music stand.

This is a great stand. Sturdy, fairly light, and the tray holds pencils, glasses, and valve oil; small things.

I've been a musician for over twenty years now, and have had just about every accessory known to man. Nothing has been more important to me (other than having a good instrument) than having a good stand. Manhasset is the only brand of stand that I would ever choose for myself, or for my students. The stand arrived carefully packed, and was easy to put together without fancy tools. It had been a while since I put one together, so I went over to youtube to look for a setup video. Thankfully, there was one. Setup was literally five minutes, once I opened the box, and laid the pieces out neatly. The instructions were clear and easy, but nothing tops actually watching someone put something together before your eyes.Over the years, I've used many stands. Everything from super cheap metal portables (the fold ups), to stands far more expensive than even the Manhassets. No matter what I use, however, I keep coming back to the Manhasset Orchestral. With this stand, it is very easy to change levels while playing, with just the touch of a finger. There are no knobs to turn, no switches to flick, and no need to balance your horn on your lap (or lay it on a dirty floor) to do a two-handed level change. You don't know how many times I've seen someone place their horn next to them "just for a second" to make an adjustment of some sort, only to find that their neighbor has stepped on, sat on, bumped, or harmfully jostled a very expensive instrument. This stand is a little bit more than your average fold up stand, but I promise you, on ALL levels, this one is WORTH IT!The extra lip on the Orchestral stand is well worth the extra few bucks. It's great for holding tuners, pencils, clips, rosin, bows, valve oils, or any other little accessories that we tend to accumulate over the years. This stand goes above and beyond all others in both quality and performance. Manhasset Specialty has been making music stands since 1935. The fact that they are still used in most schools is both a compliment, and a testament to their longevity. There's a reason why, in this disposable society, this company is still making stands the same way, for nearly a century.Get this stand. You'll only be sorry if you don't.

I DOWNGRADED my review from the original, left a couple days ago. See belowORIGINAL REVIEW -I bonked it ONE star for using a plastic part where they used to use metal. Photos and long description follows -I have a Manhasset stand from 1970 that I've used essentially every day for nearly 50 years. It's the model without the little extra shelf on the bottom. I've thrown it into trucks, trunks, vans, bad guys (really!) and otherwise abused it for half a century. It is battered and paint chipped but still works flawlessly. Smooth as the bottom of a baby adjusting up, down, rotating, tilting the desk etc. I expect to die before that old thing does. Now the new one. Essentially the same exact same size on everything except for the desk being taller due to the little extra shelf thingie. There's three things that don't match the build quality of the older stand -1 - Rotating the top half of the stand (the telescoping tubes) is extremely rough and noisy. Like there's a part in there catching on something. I didn't trouble shoot it any more except to extend and retract the top tube several times and rotate it several times to see if it just wanted to "work in". No joy. It's still klunk and grind.2 - The rotating joint gizmo on the back of the desk, where the horizontal bolt holds desk to tube fitting...That joint piece is PLASTIC on the new model. Metal (cast aluminum or steel) on the 1970 model.3 - Desk metal thickness - The newer desk is nearly .015 thicker gauge aluminum than the 1970 model. It's relatively easy to bend the desk on the new model with light hand pressure. The old one is much more solid and resistant to bending. I would guess the new one would not stand up to as much load in/load out trauma if this were a stand that got packed and unpacked a lot. If it's stationary in a studio, the thinner part might be a plus as the stand is a little lighter (maybe due to the plastic part listed above as well) but the old one is not at all heavy or difficult to move/carry with one hand.Couple of the photos are very dark. My apologies. Four of the pics have annotations. The other three show that the bases are essentially the same between the two and the desk size is the same except that the extra shelf model is that shelf height taller (a little over 2 inches).I'd buy it again. But I sure wish ManHat wouldn't have cheaped out on those two parts. And I REALLY wish it didn't creak and squeak when rotated.DOWNGRADED REVIEW UPDATE -The internal KLUNK noise got worse after 48 hrs of use. Important to note is that "use" in my case means sitting INSIDE a teaching studio, in ONE position, always at the same height, not extended or collapsed. I'd just move it maybe 18 inches to or from me in a seated position. The ability of the plastic (not metal like the older Manhasetts), would NOT hold the desk still. Tightening the bolt any further did not seem reasonable or safe, it was as tight as I'd think it should go.I came to realize that I "Wanted" the thing to work as good as my old Manhat stand. It's not "Almost as good as my 50 year old Manhasset stand", it's no where near that quality. But the genuine and objective evaluation is that my fifteen dollar import stand from MF or GC is not just "As Good" it's essentially better. The cheapo stands don't clunk, desk stays put, metal is the same thin gauge, tripod base is actually a little more stable on the cheapo china stand than it is on the expensive Manhat. It went back to Amazon returns this morning. My music is back on the cheap stand that works.Maybe I got a fluke in terms of the internal klunk noise on rotation. But the other two points (Thin desk and cheap plastic clamp) aren't flukes, they're design features that Manhasset has consciously chosen to make. They've cheapened the design, it shows in the final product.

Strong and sturdy. Too large and heavy to be considered portable but great for private practice or performance. The extra shelf is good for bows or other accessories so that page turning is unhindered. The metal plate is probably aluminium so you won’t be able to use magnets to pin down your music.

Era lo que buscaba desde hace mucho tiempo. Resistente, y la charola para poner lápices y accesorios me encanta. Es muy estable, siempre tengo todas mis partituras puestas y no baja su altura ni se tambalea.
