These charcoal pencils are a good value - I ordered several sets for my students, and they turned out to be good quality. Some charcoal pencils break easily when you try to sharpen them, but these held up better and also made nice marks on the paper. Good control and good application of charcoal while not falling apart. This is perfect for someone looking for a quality product at a good price.

I wanted to create a painted rock with my dog on it. I am not an artist, nor an experienced rock painter. I purchased these charcoal pencils to be able to transfer the image onto the stone. It worked great! The pencils come in soft, med and hard. I used the soft to do the transfer. I am very pleased with this purchase

Using regular pencils on dark wood can be a pain as everyone knows. These pencils make a mark that even a blind man could see - with a little squinting. I took off a star because they do not write consistently on all types of wood. Oily woods are a bit of a problem with these pencils but with a little perseverance and more pressure you CAN make a mark on oily woods.
