My first concrete project and all the you-tube how-to's said "get a magnesium float". This did glide over the surface nicely and left a smooth finish. It was easy to master. But being my first time, I can't say how it compares to others. For sure it will last a lifetime for me.

I connected an extending handle to this with a bracket so I could angle it and used it as a makeshift type of bull float. It worked perfect on a 15x13ft slab I was doing. I was surprised how well it worked out and how smooth the finish was as it was my first time attempting something like this.
