I don't use much butter because it's what, 100% FAT? But I LOVE BUTTER. This little gadget lets you control the amount of butter where you can still get a taste without the awkwardness of trying to cut little bitty pieces off the stick. I use the type of butter that is in the longer, skinny sticks, so had no problem loading the gadget. First try with cold butter, it was very difficult to turn and I thought I had made a mistake. Next day, it wasn't as hard....not sure why, but maybe it just needed to "settle in" or something. The third day, I ran hot water over the outside of the square portion the butter is in just to un-stick the butter from the walls of the dispenser. It worked just great, even with the butter being cold. You do have to "back off" with the screw part to keep more butter from oozing out the opening. Easy. Then one day, I let the butter sit out an hour or so before dinner and it still worked wonderfully. Even easier. The muffin or bread or whatever you are having does NOT have to be warm. Just be ready to detach the ribbon of butter with your table knife, fork, or even your finger. The butter will break away from the dispenser if you just pinch & pull the ribbon with your fingers. Your fingers are only on the piece you took out, so the butter inside is still clean. To wash it after running out of butter, I simply used HOT water out of the tap with liquid dish soap. The butter came right off with the hot water and soap. It's dishwasher safe, so if I can get it clean in the sink, your dishwasher can do as good or better at cleaning the gadget. Crazy Russian Hacker's Butter Gadgets Put to the Test on YouTube [...] is how I learned there was such a thing. He has the red top kind, but I found too many bad reviews on that one. This all-white one is a dream.

Who ever invented this is a genius! I hate using sticks of butter because they are so hard coming out of the fridge. With the butter mill it sends out a very thin ribbon of butter that's soooooooo much easier to spread. No more leaving butter out to soften or struggling to scrape thin slivers off a rock hard stick of butter. This thing works great! It also acts as a case for your butter, and with the cap on it keeps the air out too. IT ALSO WORKS AMAZINGLY WELL WITH BLOCKS OF CREAM CHEESE!!!!USER TIP: On the West Coast of the USA our butter sticks are shorter and fatter than the rest of the world, so you will have to cut the side off of your butter to make it fit in the mill. But this is no big deal, its easy to do, and just place the portion you cuff off back inside the mill so it won't be wasted at all.USER TIP: cranking down the handle creates a little pressure inside the case that may cause it to send a little extra butter out after you stop twisting it. It's no big deal, but to stop the flow of butter precisely at a specific amount, just turn the crank a very small amount in the opposite direction as soon as you want it to stop sending out butter. This relieves the small amount of pressure on the butter in the chamber and stops the flow of butter exactly when you want it to stop.

I like using stick butter mainly for the space saving in the fridge. But using it cold is a pain as everyone knows. I’ve seen this used on YouTube and wanted to try it myself.Loading butter is simple. Twisting the handle and getting butter ribbons is also simple. The whole unit is very thick plastic and doesn’t flex, but the handle could end up being its weak point. Cold butter in this is still a challenge. Will it do it? Yes, but you are going to hurt your hands trying to crank down on that handle. And it usually makes a ‘ribbon clump’ when cold, so you still have to spread it out to help it melt. Now if you pull it out of the fridge at least like 10 minutes before you need it, it works beautifully. It will be much easier to twist the handle and the butter will lay down better.I’m using Sam’s club stick butter, maybe other brands will behave differently. It’s still loads better than destroying your toast trying to spread a pat of cold butter. I do also notice I use more butter than I normally would. Oh, and take note that the length is quite long when it’s freshly loaded, it still fits in my mini fridge, so a regular fridge will be fine.

I only buy the yellow packs of butter from Costco. Each pack has 4 sticks in it. Those sticks to NOT FIT in this dispenser. The quality looks great. I never got to test the item or its durability. Not sure it would work with cold butter without breaking.

This product does work, delivering a consistent ribbon of butter. However, it takes a great deal of hand strength to turn the crank (assuming butter is straight from the refrigerator). Also, if your hands are on the small side, it’s unwieldy to hold. Unfortunately, I threw it out after the first bar of butter was used up.

This makes it so easy to butter toast even when using it straight out of the refrigerator. Twist the handle slowly then just before you want to stop, turn the handle in the oposite direction because butter will continue to come out due to the pressure insude. It is stated that butter in California and other states are too large. I trim the Costco butter on 2 sides, place it in the dispenser and cut the trimmings into smaller pieces. It may seem like a lot of work but the ease of using the dispenser to me outweighs the trouble of filling it.

It is EXTREMELY difficult to use. Not sure why, because my previous one worked flawlessly, until it fell apart while cleaning. But it last five years. This new one is made with different plastic and not smooth to operate. For a senior with arthritis, this is not helpful at all. Bring back the original! It worked!

I truly was surprised at how solid and substantial this is. I wasn't expecting that at all. This meets and exceeds my expectations. I get a whisper thin wavy slice of butter. Perfect. I definitely recommend.

I used butter right out of the fridge and this device worked so smoothly and easily to give me ribbons of beautiful butter. So worth it!

Si funciona y si es más facil untar la mantequilla despues de pasarla por este molino, el único problema fue que la tapa venia rota...

Like it, but have to keep butter in frig so it is a little hard to get it out and am afraid that the plastic will break because it is hard to turn. Still am glad to have it..
