I received this blank new VHS tape two days after ordering. The tape records great and the playback is excellent.

I bought these because they were cheap and I needed a couple of tapes. Neither was any good; both came "unraveled" when I put them in to tape. I've always used this brand but was finding it harder and harder to get VHS tapes......guess I should just give up and start putting everything on a DVD.....

I bought two of these videocassettes in 2 different orders. The first shipment's videocassette works well, about how it should work. The second shipment came out of the box not wanting to start without tangling up inside my VCR. I had to put my fingers inside the VCR to get the tape untangled. Once untangled, I manually moved the tape over about 10 to 15 minutes and tried to see if that would work. I was able to get it to tape something, but once again, when I tried to take it out of the VCR after it wouldn't rewind for me to check out how it recorded, I had to reach inside the VCR to untangle the tape from my VCR.I put some of my old videocassettes inside the VCR and they worked normally, so I knew that it wasn't my VCR having a problem, it was indeed, the "Brand New" videocassette.I had a bright idea to open up the videocassette's case to see what could be the problem. (I've always been able to open them and put them back together). Once I looked inside, I realized that a piece had broken off that holds the little gadget that helps the tape/film move about to rewind and fast-forward through the case. Since it couldn't be glued back into place. I had another bright idea to take a look inside of an "older cassette" (oddly enough it was another MAXELL that I bought years ago that didn't work right and I just kept it thinking I would try it to fix it one day).I found out that there was another problem with the Newer Maxell. Those little twisted metal wires were missing from the pieces that move the tape along to rewind and fast-forward. So, I just took the back of the "older" MAXELL case and attached it onto the Newer Maxell's front...IT WORKED!!! Now the videocassette tape works inside my VCR and it rewinds and fast-forwards perfectly without tangling up inside the VCR.I was really frustrated about it at first because it was damaging the tape every time I had to untangle it from inside my VCR, but luckily, I didn't force it to work too much before taking the case apart. The tape was missing intricate parts and thankfully, I figured it out. I didn't feel like going through the trouble of sending it back because years ago, I was told that I couldn't return a videocassette tape and I had to eat the loss. I hope not to ever buy another defective videocassette with parts missing. Dee Jazz

As the author of the Jefferson Airplane book "Take Me To A Circus Tent" as well as an avid music collector, and a former radio disc-jockey, I am often asked to write about and or discuss various recording tapes.Maxell's stellar reputation for VHS and cassettes tapes has been a staple of the industry for decades. The Maxell 8 hour High Quality will give you terrific clarity and the ability to preserve the recording if you plan to use it only one time. Eight hour tapes are not made to be durable to erase after each viewing. Please make sure the VHS heads are clean or the tape will not give you the optimum results regardless of the brand. Please consider the Maxell HG T-120 VHS Tape (6 hour at slow speed)and not 8 hour because:A quick note that even if the 8-hour VHS tape seems like a bargain, stay away from it. The standard of the industry is six because anything above means a thinner tape has to run through the machine and is absolutely more susceptible to breakage.Since six hours will handle almost everyones needs and the prices are very cosumer friendly, the eight hour will cost you more in the long run with breakage.Enjoy the music and be well,Craig FentonAuthor of the Jefferson Airplane book "Take Me To A Circus Tent"

Won't be able to re-tape them either because they were first year episodes. and the other were shows you won't get in their entirety they would cost quite a bit to buy them outright. Really disappointed. Will turn it in to my credit card company for resolution to the problem. Your supposed to be happy and satisfied with your purchase. Most will credit you or let you return product for a refund.
