Cam Bearing Removal and Installation Instructions

Preparation Before Installation
Please clean the engine block up before installation.
Measure the diameter of the five cam housing holes and the arbor of the tool you received with a micrometer caliper. If the diameter of the arbor is smaller than the minimum cam housing hole, you can proceed to the next step normally. In the opposite case, you need to stop and send us an email.

Cam Bearing Removal Steps
Unscrew the arbor, insert the drive spool through the cam housing hole, and screw both together. Insert the arbor into the cam bearing and secure the spool stabilizer in other cam housing hole.
Tap the drive cap with a hammer until the bearing comes out. Remove the other four bearings in the same way.

Cam Bearing Installation Steps
Clean the new bearings and wipe them dry. 5 bearings are not exactly the same, note the mounting position of each bearing.
Unscrew the arbor, insert the drive spool through the cam housing hole, and screw both together. Lubricate the new bearing. Place the new bearing on the arbor and secure the spool stabilizer in other cam housing hole.

Worked for me but had to file the diameter down to remove/install center cam bearing. Could just be my engine 05 Sierra 5.3l

Disclaimer, I haven't used this yet. I bought it because this summer I'm planning on rebuilding my trucks LS motor. this seems pretty solid when I took it out and put it together. it seems like it should all the bearings to go in nicely and the nylon centering cone fits perfect. I'm pumped as I've never installed cam bearings and just paid someone to do it for me. this sounds fun to do.

I would have rather seen a softer material for the alignment cone. I’m afraid with it being steel too, one could end up damaging the first journal.

High quality with proper tolerance's make for a fit against the bearings on install. This cam bearing tool works well for removal and installation. The weight of this tool helps with the impact of the hammer when driving the cam bearings in. A couple tips with the LS, use quality Sleeve Retainer gel and install the front three bearings from the front and the last two from the rear.
