Not only does thing Wiegh hardly anything, it is extremely durable and lightweight. Aluminum.The assembly process was roughly 15-min with a drill and a wrench. It is exactly what we expected. Lastly, it came with a hitch and locking pin, so you do not need to worry about purchasing that.

It's a basic cargo carrier - no hinge that folds, requires some assembly, and it's mostly aluminum - but it holds up to 500 lbs and it simply works. It's sturdy - the bottom piece that attaches to the vehicle rear hitch is steel - the 4 side walls are aluminum which makes the carrier lightweight - MUCH lighter than other hitch cargo carriers. My wife could easily attach or remove this cargo carrier onto the vehicle hitch by herself. And once installed with an anti-rattle hitch attachment I could jump up and down on the carrier with no movement. Take your time assembling the carrier and reference the diagram carefully to determine how it goes together (the written instructions suck). The piece with the Maxxhaul logo is placed on the opposite side of the hitch so it faces the car behind you. I added some highway reflective tape to the aluminum horizontal rails to increase the visibility of the carrier even though it has some red reflectors on it. I bought the matching Maxxhaul black cargo bag and it fits this cargo carrier perfectly.

Works great for our van and our sporty family! It fits our cooler, wagon, tent weights, and my babies scooters on it. Very well worth it!

Completed carrier seems very sturdy and much lighter than my old steel carrier. However, they should have finished this in the factory, and just made box a little bigger. LOTS of nuts and screws which are a pain to put together. I took 2 1/2 hours to finish putting this together!

I looked at a bunch of these and I can't see how one could be better than this one. Incredible value, fantastic build quality, super easy to attach. For the money I don't think you will find better.

This was just what we needed. I have a ford explorer and it worked well. It did take a little bit of assembly but it was worth it. Sturdy and durable. We drove 4 hours straight and no issues. Very happy I finally got one. so many to choose from, I’m happy I got this one because it is 7†tall up the sides and the ones 4†didn’t make me feel safe enough that my luggage would bounce off lol -

1 trip in the book and it did exactly what we wanted. Was able to strap down a ton of stuff (not too heavy, but that was more for my car) and it didn’t move (I also purchased a clamp to keep it still) very light weight and sturdy. Built it with some help from my wife (small fingers help with the tiny nuts) but super easy.

Used to transfer rims and tires about 2000km at excessive speed. No bends no damage worked great. Will use for transporting salt and sand to keep my backseat clean.
