  • Resolution of 1 inch
  • 42kHz Ultrasonic sensor measures distance to objects
  • Read from all 3 sensor outputs: Analog Voltage, RS232 Serial, Pulse Width
  • Best for large object detection applications

Features of the MB1040-000, LV-MaxSonar-EZ4, include one-inch resolution, the narrowest beam width of any sensor in the LV-MaxSonar-EZ sensor line, range information from 6 inches to 254 inches, a 20Hz read rate, and various output options: pulse-width, analog voltage, and RS232 serial. The MB1040-000 is a great choice for applications where only larger objects need to be detected. The MB1040-000 from the LV-MaxSonar-EZ line of sensors is a very small, less than one cubic inch, ultrasonic sensor component module. This sensor comes with mounting holes provided on the circuit board for easy installation in nearly all applications. In addition, the MB1040-000 learns the ringdown pattern when commanded to start ranging. This helps the sensor to learn the environment and can help the sensor ignore obstacles that are present at power-up

The sensor worked as expected and the shipment is the fastest I have seen from a non-amazon prime seller (two days from California to Georgia). Jameco makes great products in general and their service is no different. Keep it the good work!

Far too wide angle. Doesn't do the job I wanted, which is ranging an object directly in front of it. Objects to the side reflect back as well.

Absolutely the best sonar you can buy for the price.Maxbotix is a leader in the field. I use these on all of myrobotics projects. Very accurate distance measuring on my rover and on my quadrocopter.

MaxBotics is an awesome company to work with - Great customer support - They answered all the questions that I had regarding the sensor and the information on the datasheet. They even provided pre-sales guidance on what sensor to buy for my project. The sensor itself is well made and easy to use.The sensor outputs the range information as either a voltage, pulse width or a serial string. The serial on the sensor is inverted TTL so if you're going to read this into a device that expects RS-232 then you'll need to invert (and level shift if it needs the 12v instead of 5v).Each of these is available at the same time depending on which pin you want to connect to. I used the serial output in my project as it was the most interesting way of getting the data. The simplest would have been to just read in the voltage via an analog input but then I wouldn't have had the opportunity to write some interesting code and play with my logic analyzer.Regardless, you won't go wrong with either this sensor or MaxBotix as a supplier.
