When I stay at my mom's house, I miss not having a clock that I can just glance over at. I also like to use a thermometer to gauge the temperature of the bedroom I stay in the (I won't bother to go into why). So I was delighted to find something that had both features built into one unit at an excellent price! My only concern was whether the unit would stand up on its own (since I wasn't looking to affix it anywhere) and it definitely does.When I opened the box containing the two units, I saw that they had included a set of two button-style batteries, which surprised me, since the listing said it took two AAA batteries. At any rate, I then assumed I'd need to install one of the batteries to check out one of the clocks. But, when I opened the battery compartment, I was pleasantly surprised to see that it already had a battery in it, so the two batteries separately included in the box were two EXTRA batteries....nice!! I actually prefer the button battery to two AAAs, since I think the button batteries tend to last longer (and make the whole unit lighter for traveling with), but I do think they should correct their listing.Although the unit is pretty small (see photo comparing its size to a dollar bill), with the backlight on, the numbers are very readable.My only complaint is that the only instructions included are printed on the edge of the box and they're very minimal. I was able to figure out how to set the time and date (that it had a date surprised me and I'm not sure when you'd see the date displayed...) and change the temperature scale from C to F, but I tend to be pretty good at figuring that stuff out and I'm not sure everyone would be able to (I'm pretty sure my mom wouldn't!). But I was so generally impressed by everything else that I decided not to deduct a star for that.
