Designed for a dry, fast, and trashy tone, they deliver explosive grit at high volumes and soft white noise when played lightly. Crashes, splashes, and chinas cut through with raw intensity. Hihats and rides offer crisp definition with a trashy edge. Crafted in Turkey from cast B20 bronze, each cymbal is shaped by skilled smiths. Splashes, crashes, hihats, and effects feature lathed undersides for a smooth feel and warmer tones, while rides stay unlathed for sharp articulation. The Transition Ride stands out with a lathed bottom that’s polished to a brilliant finish.

excellent sound. Great quality like it should for the money. We are using this in our band, and it sounds great.

Love these hats. Was lucky enough to get a crazy discount on a scratch and dent pair from the Amazon Warehouse. I was worried the price was so low because the damage to the cymbal was severe, however on arrival the only "dent" is a slightly bent edge that I easily smoothed out - other than that these cymbals were in perfect condition. These hats are dry and deep, and they can span over many musical styles. I love the Meinl Extra Dry series, and these hats compliment any set I've put them on. Although I purchased the pair with the scratch and dent discount, I would happily pay the full cost if that option had not been available. Worth it for any serious drummer needing a pair of hi hats that can transition from style to style, loud to soft, without any hesitation.

I personally love these hi hats. They have a very unique sound which I have never heard before. They are fun to play and have changed the over sound of my drums in a positive way. These hats sound dark but track (record) normal. The are very dry and have very short sustain. The bottom cymbal is very heavy which makes for lower to medium pitched barks. These cymbals are more appropriate for a jazz/fusion or electronic music rather than rock. There is not enough sustain and the hats are too small for half open playing.

You have to like Meinl to appreciate Meinl's unusual product line and the way they cater to eclectic and off-beat tastes in percussion. These hats exemplify their alt-cymbal thinking. Great, dry chick...massive sloshiness...but with very controllable precision at all tempos. Fun, fun, fun to play!
