I had this wand for 8 years in the Arizona sun. It finally started leaking, so I bought a new one. Same ease of use, same construction. Even easier to maneuver. The length is perfect. It provides better control than a pistol-grip model, but it is not so long that it takes two hands. It has a big, easy to use water controller (off/on, volume). There are eight spray patterns. This new model was sent with a snap-on hose connector. My old model was affixed to the hose end at a fixed angle, so it was a bit harder to control. The new fitting solves that problem. In eight years or so in the hot sun I will replace with this same model if needed.

The head popped off just after the return date. My older and longer Melnor wand has been going for so many years the aluminum tube has a pinhole, but otherwise works fine. I have to assume this was a defective watering wand. Otherwise, it worked great!

I have bought several different spray nozzles over the years and have been disappointed because of frequent problems. I bought the Melnor water wand last spring and liked it so I ordered 2 more on Amazon. The spray options all worked well and once you select the spray pattern you just need one hand to operate it and can easily control the valve with just your thumb. It is now Spring Again and I discovered 2 of the wands that I bought are now leaking through the handle. There was mention of a two year warranty so I called Melnor to find out if they were covered. I assumed that I would have to ship the two back that had problems and wait for replacements or repairs. Instead the associate took my address and sent me 2 new water wands. I am always very impressed these days when a company provides excellent customer service and stands behind their product without making you jump through hoops. I asked if the leak problem is a common issue and was told that it happens when the wand is left out in freezing temperatures. I admitted that I had done that and did not know that would damage the item. I had disconnected and drained the hose and nozzle ahead of any freezing weather but apparently there was water remaining in the handle that froze and caused the damage. In spite of this being my fault for leaving them out, they still replaced them without a fuss and I received the new ones in less than a week. I will be careful about bringing them indoors in the winter from now on and I highly recommend this company!

I originally bought this unit because it doesn't have the palm squeeze handle which always breaks at the pivot point on those types. But it turns out that it really works good in other aspects as well. First, I really like the way it holds any intermediate setting you choose. The palm squeeze models are either full on or off, no intermediate capability (the little threaded knob they usually have to provide an intermediate setting isn't very user friendly, quite impractical). Second, I love the "jet" setting. On full "throttle" it is quite powerful, even with moderate (35 psi) house water pressure. But mainly I love the "jet" setting because you can set an intermediate "throttle" level and it provides a solid stream in a gentle arc going up, or out, anywhere from a foot to many feet. This allows easy watering of higher plants and also allows you to water several plants from one location with minimum water wastage. Nice unit. Hope it lasts.Addendum 6 weeks later: This unit did not last. It leaks like a sieve around the outside of the plastic insert that the hose O ring seals against. So it's leaking by the outside of the O ring where the O ring is not meant to seal. As a result, there is nothing that can be done to stop the leak. Am attempting to contact the manufacturer. Will advise.Addendum II: Manufacturer promptly replaced unit. New unit is leak free.

I needed to empty, drain and store a rain barrel yesterday so I turned on the hose to rinse and clean the barrel after I had it drained. Once the water traveled the length of the hose and entered into the hose wand the water seeped and sprayed and spurted out of the handle, all along the plastic joints and onto my cloths. Water gushed everywhere coming out of nearly every inch of the entire length of the sprayer. Literally shooting out along the seams - just coming out all over.Clearly the joints are not sealed properly. We have not had much bad winter weather here and my hose caddy with the wand attachment is by my porch, mostly sheltered from the elements. I take great care of all my tools and there is no reason at all why a wand would spontaneously split along the seams like that unless it was poorly constructed.I loved using this hose sprayer attachment last summer when I first bought it. It was not the best I've ever used but it was far better than watering the garden with no attachment at all! Plus I liked the multitude of sprayer settings. I did notice slight leaking and seeping down onto my hands towards the end of the summer growing season but it was tolerable.Clearly the leaking was an indication of poor craftsmanship and I really regret this purchase because now it is fully failing and useless. Plus I had to continue the job of rinsing out my rain barrel in freezing weather, soaked in freezing cold water! There wasn't much daylight left and it would have all been gone by the time I changed out of my drenched clothes into dry ones. So yea, I am really not happy with this purchase.

Arrived as forecast. Sturdy construction. No leaks. Looks like they should last (I ordered 3). I would recommend them.
