This is a review of the Memorex 4.7 GB 16X DVD+R (100 Pack)This is a short review as this is a simple product. I have used many different burning medias in the past and so far I have come to learn Memorex has been my best performing and reasonably priced option. I can honestly not recall the last time I had a dvd burn fail or issues with any of the data - video files I burned to these disks. This is a 100 pack of the Memorex 4.7GB 16x DVD + R.(I use max speed recording and have no issues at all.)I also like using these as the top of the disks have areas for you to label the discs. (I use a black sharpy marker.)Just to give you a quick idea of how much data these hold.CD = 800MBDVD = 4.7GB (4,700 mb)Music mp3s are approx 5mbPhotos are typically 3-5mb or 10-20mb if on a DSLR camera.

These are probably the best inexpensive DVD's you can buy. I have used about 400 of them so far. Maybe 1 at the most out of every 100 pack is "bad", IF THAT. I pop these in and my computer immediately recognizes them and burns quick. I've tried several other brands, and the computer takes longer to recognize and they all have a higher percentage of bad discs in the batch. And the front of these discs are basically plain, with just a very small memorex logo and "dvd+r" written. That may not matter much to some people, but i hate when my back ups look like blank dvds with brand names and writing all over them. These are just plain simple discs that work 99% of the time or more. They come in a pretty solid plastic spindle that you can keep for storing your backups if necessary too. I've burned probably 800+ dvds, and these are my first choice, you cant beat the combination of price and quality.

I've been using Memorex DVD+R 16x discs for about 6-7 years now and although they are concidered to be a lower quality of DVD out there in the market place I have to say I've never had much problems with them. I've burned well over 600 of these DVD-R's and I have only had 3-4 failures which is a very small amount considering the numbers and the price of these discs.Overall I am 100% pleased with these discs and will definately continue to purchase them as they work perfectly for my situation. I also use them to burn Game Development Software that I created and ship the DVD to customers that purchase my software. I have never been contacted by a customer that couldn't use the DVD+R so they are highly compatible with other DVD drives.I've used them on a ASUS Server PC burning DVD Videos, and Data discs. I've used them on my Toshiba Laptop to burn DVD Videos and Data discs. Finally I've just stated using them with my Acer Aspire One AO725-0899 to burn data and backup discs and they have worked perfectly with my 3 systems.I have discs that I've burned 6-7 years back and they still work 100% in all of the various PC based systems that I've upgraded to over the years, so they are very compatible with other systems and not just limited to the system that they were burned on.

I ordered these on 2 August 2009. The shipping price listed on the page is $4.99. I ordered several items at the same time, and because this item is not coming directly from Amazon itself but another vendor, I did not get to see the individual shipping prices. When placing your order you are presented with three shipping options for this item from this vender:1-day which costs $26.232-day which costs $20.731-3 Day expedited $17.73I WOULD NEVER have ordered something for $27 and paid an addition $17.73 to get it at the SLOWEST shipping method possible!!! I believe either the vendor should offer the shipping option of $4.99 listed on the page or the shipping fee listed on the page should be updated. For this price, I could have purchased them locally and SAVED money! I didn't need them that fast, I had ordered in sufficient time that media mail would have been fast enough. That said, beware of the shipping fees listed and understand when computing your price that you will end up paying significantly more than that to get them (but they do ship quick).I have used Memorex DVDs and CDs exclusively for years and have had only 1-3 disc issues (but with DL not with single layers).Memorex must have corrected whatever their problem was with the older reviews.

I got the DVD's my only problem is the package was not sealed. So i needed to make sure it had 100 and that there was no damage. Im just disappointed when you buy a item labeled new you kinda expect it to be sealed

I thought I would try Memorex discs after doing some research on the company which is one of the oldest American disc companies and was associated with IBM usage at one point. I use Maxell, Verbatim and TDK discs. Each disc has a different character based on the country of origin of the manufacturer and the location of the disc production which is usually Taiwan for all manufacturers. The Memorex discs give results similar to the other brands as no brand has given any significant number of disc failures at all. However, when you use Memorex discs and I have bought the Memorex blue ray discs too you do feel you are connecting to an American brand which has some good aspects to it in the usage. I have noticed some problems with some discs such as TDK in getting a consistent price level for the discs and this depends on quantity available and the seller. I hope this does not affect the Memorex +R discs I now review as they are of reliable quality and a good sense of connectivity to the US disc market.

The top of the case screws on to prevent dust from getting in which is great.

Not exactly as illustrated. The picture shows the old spindle with a screw-on lid which I really like. The new spindle has a lid with tabs which I don't like at all. The new label on the disc has also changed somewhat which I don't like as well. That's my complaint with Memorex. My complaint with Amazon is the packaging. Very poorly done and the box was not sealed properly. One of the spindle lids was actually smashed. Thankfully only one disc had to be thrown out. Great price, but I'll never buy this from Amazon again. UPDATE THE PICTURE SO WE HAVE A BETTER IDEA WHAT WE ARE GETTING!!!
