I had been wanting to get a small black bag in a little dressier style for some time when I stumbled on this one so figured I'd give it a try. I wasn't entirely sure about the pattern, which almost looks like polka dots, but it is an octagon pattern. Looking at the bag alone looks borderline androgynous, but once I slung it on my person, it did take on a definite masculine look. The bag is on the slim side and doesn't expand much so cannot hold anything particularly wide, but it does hold the basics I typically take on trips, like my phone, a charging cord, backup battery pack, glasses, handkerchief, keys, lip balm, pen/pad and has room for some extra besides. I like that the strap hooks on instead of sewn on because it is more flexible that way...the strap is made of a smooth, silky, yet durable material and has good adjustability for long or short lengths. One exterior side of the bag is a slit pocket with a slightly magnetic button. On the other exterior side is a zipped pocket with faux leather trim that covers the zipper -- the flap over the zipper looks nice, but does make it hard to get into the pocket because it is sewn in a way that there is not much give...disappointing design flaw. The interior has a main compartment, a side slit pocket, and a side zipped pocket. All this gives sufficient storage space for most men's basics. The lining is a silky look -- I wish it was a lighter shade, like grey instead of black, for better visibility, but no big deal. The lining is crinkly though, like there is paper inside it, so I hope it will be durable -- I'm concerned on that because it comes across as cheap. Overall I am really happy to have this attractive looking bag and look forward to using it on my next trip.
