As many of the other reviews and Q&A pointed out, this is a normally open switch, meaning on my boat I had to set it to the off position for my boat to run. This is an okay workaround, but it doesn't allow you to use the safety shutoff clip. So I found a better solution! The switch is easily disassembled using a small screwdriver to open the gray clips. From there you can flip the front part of the assembly and reassemble. I don't have the switch in front of me to take any pictures but I was able to easily change the switch into a normally closed switch and my boat now runs when the switch is set to on, and kills my boat when flipped off

I got a faulty switch. When it was on off my motor would start but when it was on run it wouldn’t start. Tried flipping the wires and still had the same result.
