I gave these as gifts to my younger nieces and nephews. They were huge hit and even the adults were playing with them.

I bought three of these as Christmas presents for my grandsons. The magnification was impressive, and they will be fun to use during our treasure hunts.

Highly recommend this toy for ALL ages. It’s fun and games until you see a critter living under your skin. Take caution.

Do not purchase this if you are at all germaphobic. Do not purchase this if you are at all worried about microplastics. This portable microscope is, at the end of the day, just a cheap digital camera with a very intense macro lens, but it will allow you to see the hidden nature of everything around you. Even the most mundane objects can be intensely fascinating/gruesome when viewed at such magnification. If you're anything like me you'll probably spend the first hour after you open it just looking at random stuff in your home. Don't look at your fingernails though. Just trust me on this one.The downsides are that the device only really has four 'control' buttons plus a power button, and the different buttons do different things based on whether you press them or hold them (for example, magnification up and down is a press, while adjusting the brightness of the built in light is a hold). Because of this it might be a little confusing for very young children, but that just gives you an excuse to help them out. The light itself is very bright, and the scope has a molded plastic standoff on the back side that does a pretty good job of setting the camera at a good distance away from whatever it is you are looking at (although you may have to move it slightly closer or farther to get the best image). It can take photographs of the objects you are viewing, and they output at a reasonably clarity with a resolution of 1920x1080. You'll need a MicroSD card to store these. You can either remove the MicroSD card and use a card reader, or you can just plug the microscope in to your computer via USB C, where it can function as a card reader itself. It can also function as a macro videocamera that is viewable on your PC (spine chilling), or you can just use it as a portable microscope while it is charging. The plastic feels reasonably durable, but kids will find a way to break anything so you might want to make this a "be careful" sort of toy. Ultimately this microscope is pretty great, if you're curious about the world around you it likely has an equal chance of keeping you occupied as it does your children.
