I love these things and have been buying them since 2011, even given them to family members. They serve their stated purpose. Yes, they may sag and touch the food a bit but that hasn’t caused problems and they hand wash quickly and easily. Best part for me is that they require minimal storage space in my small kitchen. Those big dome covers that are the alternative are space hogs and I have no room. I have never had any melting and usually the weights keep them from touching food. These prevent splatters, clean and store well—the only downside is the price but since I have used them daily for years, the price per use is low and well worth it to me. I was very happy to see they are still available. Highly recommend.

I've had one of these for years, and it's the best thing by far that I've found for preventing splatters in the microwave (and the time required to clean them up). It's sheer, which allows it to breathe, so pressure doesn't build up under it, but splatters can't escape. I've tried plastic lids, but a) they take up space that I don't have (the mesh takes almost no space), and b) splatters can escape onto the microwave plate as well as the lid. The small plastic "weights" are very light, but sufficient to hold this on during microwaving. The edges aren't finished, but they don't need to be - they don't unravel. It's generally very easy to wash - rub a drop of dishwashing liquid into it, add warm water and wash it clean - with the occasional messy cheese dish taking a little more rubbing. They dry in minutes - crunch in towel or hang over faucet, dishwasher/range handle. It stays clean looking for years, doesn't soak up tomato or curry stains like plastic. If you don't want anything touching your food, you can always put a plastic cover over plates and use this for the rest - I never used mine because this mesh is so easy and effective. It makes microwaving much more predictable and pleasant!

When I first took this out of the package, I thought it looked somewhat fragile and not very useful. Boy, was that impression wrong! I have used this splatter screen for a few months now, and I have not been disappointed.Despite looking like a piece of easily-torn cloth, the screen is made of durable silicon. It is very sturdy, and it does a good job of keeping food from splattering in my microwave.The screen has little red weights positioned around the edges. While they don't seem heavy enough to actually weigh the screen down, they must help, because the screen usually stays in place. There are a few times when the screen has slipped off of the dish I was covering, but I just reached in and repositioned it, and all was well.What amazes me the most is how easily the screen comes clean. I wash it by hand in my kitchen sink using warm soapy water. I basically rub it against itself, sometimes using my fingers to rub on areas where food was stuck. Although I have gotten spaghetti sauce, chili, curry powder, and melted cheese on the screen, and sometimes I have even let it sit overnight before washing it the next day, it always comes clean to a perfect white.I leave the screen in my dish rack to dry, then I hang it up on the frig with a magnet so that it is near the microwave and ready to use whenever we need it. Not only is this splatter screen affordable, effective, and easy to clean, but also it takes up less storage room than those solid plastic covers. I highly recommend this!UPDATE - April 2013: Now, 10 months later, I am still using my microwave cover daily. It is in great shape, with no stains or holes in it. I love it just as much as I did when I first got it!

This splatter screen works better than paper towels or plastic wrap for covering food in the microwave. Unlike paper towels, it stays put. Unlike plastic wrap, it allows air through. And unlike both of them, it's reusable. It even works better than the silicone lids because it's more flexible. It's MUCH better than the flat plastic square microwave covers which end up warping and becoming completely useless.It's very small and easy to clean--just rinse it off. Even melted cheese comes off easily, and nothing stains it.I've had mine for years and used it all the time. The only damage was incurred recently when I accidentally set a hot pan on it, and that just caused a small pucker in the mesh. I'd have assumed the beads would come loose after a while, but they never have.

Have purchased a number of these over the years and like the ease of cleaning splatters in the microwave. Also is dishwasher safe but so easy to clean with a squirt of dish liquid. The only reason for four stars is that my first ones were less than $2 which means the price has almost tripled.

I’ve had one of these for years now and it’s very handy. It works well to prevent spatters in the microwave and is super easy to clean. Yes, it’s very light, but I’ve had no trouble with it being somehow blown off my dishes in the microwave. And I don’t know why anyone would need or want to put it in the dishwasher! It easily scrubs clean with a drop of dish soap. It’s perfect for my purposes so I just ordered another one in case I ever rip this one.

My wife would be lost without one of these! Very handy as a spatter screen for the microwave but also great for filtering broth when making soup. Very easy to wash and it dries in no time.

We had one of these when I was growing up. It's better at catching the mess in the microwave than a paper towel, and easier to clean/store than a hard plastic shield.

Great way to keep your microwave clean!Set it on top of almost any size container and then wash it easily after - just rinse with soapy water and let it dry. Great product!

Good size to cover an extra large dinner plate with ample hanging around the edge. It’s strong and won’t rip easily. Easy to use, just throw it over your food and it keeps the food from splattering. I quickly wash it once I’m done using it while the food is still easy enough to wash off.I gave it a 4 rating because it’s quite costly considering it’s just a screen with a few red dots which act as weights to keep it from fluttering.
