Installed this mount on a 2020 explorer hood and it could not have been much easier. I wanted something low profile for a GMRS antenna and chose this along with Midland's Ghost antenna. The combo has worked out great so far. When I don't need the antenna on the vehicle it is so easy to just remove it from this mount and put a weatherproof cap on to protect it. So unnoticeable that I can even forget its there sometimes. Good quality for the price so far as well. Time will tell about longevity but zero issues so far.

I got a GMRS radio as a gift, and I didn't want to use the antenna that came with it - was looking for a more permanent solution. This, plus a +3dB gain stub antenna seemed to be the right solution for my Tacoma. The hood mount part fits well - there is a slight gap towards the middle, but I don't see any vibration. I used a little bit of paint protective film between the mount and my paint to just be extra sure, since I don't plan on taking this thing off any time soon.Running the cable through a vehicle is some work. The reading I did suggested that you not run it through the firewall, because it can interfere with other wiring that is going through there. So, I went under, along the frame, and up through a grommet behind the rear passenger seat, back under the carpet to the dash, through the dash and up to a mount on top of the dash. With all of that, I still had an extra foot or two of cable, so I was fine with the length. I was honestly surprised that I didn't need to extend, given the route I took. If you go that way, make sure to tuck behind heat shielding, because I would expect that this kind of cable would melt. Finally - one thing to note that I didn't figure out until just about the end of my several hours of work: the connector end (coax) actually comes off really easily and goes back on really easily. That makes running cable a LOT easier. I wish I had figured that out *before* running this thing under the carpet and through the dash, but hey, it worked anyway. :-D

I put this on the rear lip of the trunk up against the window. I then put a ghost GRMS antenna on it, and ran it into the car. The removable tip (the PL259) made it much easier to run the cable through the lining of the trunk, to a 5/8" hole I drilled into the trunk/back seat divider, under the rear seat, under the matts and into the front seat.I am getting great reception, and fantastic SWR out of this setup.

These function as intended, I have no issues when driving, transmitting, or receiving on either band. My one gripe is that there is only one pair of set screws. After radio, wiring, mount installation, I found that the set screws were just too long, so made contact with the rear window. I was very fortunate enough to have exact size and thread set screws on hand, otherwise this would’ve been a disappointment and a return

As others have stated once your tighten down the set screws it won't sit flat but with some minor adjustments it will, I paired this with my stubby midland antenna and love it. The range is surprisingly decent and covers my town and parts outside of it. (Volunteer FD) this little mount makes wiring super easy with the removable large plug that goes into the radio itself and was a Breez to fish through the firewall of my jeep.

I was forced to drill two holes and put screws through them to keep the thing from blowing my 60$ antenna away. Now given there aren’t a lot of options for keeping antennas on your car and plugged in, I made it work with some simple thinking and drilling, so if you’re willing to do some personal work on it to make it actually not blow away down the highway, it’s pretty alright’
