I have a steam heating system with the old style cast iron radiators. The torpedo shaped valves were leaking a lot of steam and I was adding water to the boiler every couple of days. I’ve started replacing the old valves with these and so far, they’ve solved the problem. The old valves would only last a couple of years so I hope the will last longer considering the extra cost.

Screwed right into old threaded hole. The only downside is that they are all the same relief rating. The valves are all the same with the exception of the relief hole. It would be nice to have the #4, #5, and #6 holes all available.

This Midline steam vent functions exactly like the finest est. 1932 Maid-O-Mist steam vent. It is an easy, direct replacement: 1. unscrew valve, 2. retap radiator threads, 3. teflon tape valve, 4. screw-in valve. Five out of five vents installed this year happily chugs away every day.One note is the two manufactures' valves have close, but not exact, size orifice (air vent opening). As measured with a digital caliper, the #6 Maid-O-Mist #6 orifice is 2.2mm (0.885in), and the Midline #6 orifice is 2.4mm (0.0945in). Though, the 9% is unlikely to be an issue in these old steam systems.

Nice vents, solid per unit price, but you may want to consider adjustable valves to better regulate your one pipe, steam heat system.
