I haven't thrown clay since highschool, so when I found this listing I HAD to get it. It's itty bitty, but is a nice little thing. There's variable speed, and you can spin it clockwise or counterclockwise. Please note (like I didn't) that the peddle STOPS the wheel, and does not start it.

Way way too easy to stop wheel from rotating. It may work for decorating something, like brushing on paint with a brush. But the motor is too weak to resist basic pressure to shape clay. Disappointed.

This mini pottery wheel machine is great for the beginner or the younger age. It comes with brushes, tools, clay, and paints making it a great starter kit. Works good and is fun for all ages.

This is no more than a fun toy. It doesn't work all that well. My son tried to make something and it didn't turn out. This is super small and feels like a toy. I don't think this is worth the price ($70 at the time I ordered this). The quality is low and not worth the price.

So far this has been great. The clay is good quality, the wheel is actually not bad, and I love the foot pedal. I took ceramics while in college for a break from the norm and loved using foot pedals. It is pretty responsive as well. Not as good as the pro wheels but a good introduction wheel. I really recommend this kit for a newbie to pottery.

I've never touched clay to work a pottery wheel and never even seen a full size pottery wheel. So, I have zero background. This , to me anyhow, is a good set to learn with. No matter if you're an adult or teen, it's fun to learn. I like that the bowl part is metal, I think that's probably better than plastic. I do wish that the power cord was a lot longer. It looks to be 2 or 3 feet long so I have to use a power strip whenever I play with this wheel. The foot petal is also short, but I have a short table that I use when I have this out. Two of our teenagers have a pottery wheel set too, so we all bond together while creating different art. This set is better than spending I've seen, but I've also seen much more expensive and better ones for adults. Since I'm a beginner, I'll stick with this until I can learn the basics and not get aggravated haha. This will work for teens and adults that have never tried pottery!
