TROUBLESHOOTING TIPS

BE SURE TO CHECK FAN COMPATIBILITY FIRST

  1. urn off power to your ceiling fan. Take off the faceplate, and please use a small size tool to change the frequency settings on the front of the control. Return power to the ceiling fan.
  2. Within 60 seconds of turning the fan's power on, press and hold the stop button for 10 seconds.
  3. The fan's light will blink twice, and the fan will rotate for a short period of time and then shut off.
  4. If unsuccessful, please contact the manufacturer, as the issue may be the receiver in the fan and not the control.

Our on/off switch is near the bedroom door so it's nice to be able to control both the fan light and fan functions from a control (that replaces the wall switch) when entering and leaving the room AND by using the remote on the night stand. The original light switch only complicated everything (for the worse). If the light and/or fan were turned off from the remote, the wall switch was useless, plus making the mistake of turning the switch off then made the remote useless and required getting out of bed to turn the switch on in order to use the remote.Re: complaints about the built-in LED backlight being too bright in a dark, I haven't noticed it. It's possible Minka corrected the problem or some people are much more sensitive to low-level light.A few reviewers have complained about the two light switches/buttons. We have a Minka-Aire fan in the dining room with two lights (one over and one under the fan blades). The smaller of the two round light buttons on the wall control works the upper light and the larger one works the lower light.NOTE: I ordered the WCS212 by mistake and was concerned that it might not work with the RCS223 remote and receiver purchased with the fan (Minka-Aire F522-WH, Mojo White 52" Ceiling Fan with Light). Minka-Aire offers two types of remotes, one for a small group of fans with an electrical reverse feature and one for fans that require manual switching to reverse blade directions (which is what the F522 has). When I saw the reverse feature on the WCS212 I called Minka and a (snotty) support person told me I'd purchased the wrong wall control (the card that came with the remote lists the WCS213). I had to interrupt him to ask, "All I want to know is will the WCS212 work with the RCS223?" He finally said that it would but that the reverse feature wouldn't work with my fan (which is what I expected).Because I didn't have a lot of confidence in the guy's expertise, before opening the packaging I was able to compare the eight (two sets of four) toggle switches with the eight on the remote. Seeing they were exactly the same, I took a shot. Installation took five minutes and it works perfectly.

Works great with compatible Minka Aire fans. Have not tried it with other fan brands. This unit is pretty easy to install, but I would warn you to make sure that you have plenty of room and a deep box to mount it in.This switch operates like the hand-held, battery-operated remotes that came with the Minka Aire fans, but uses the hot wire instead of a battery to power the transmitter. Make sure you set the DIP switches for an isolated frequency if you happen to have more than one fan. The Light buttons allow you to toggle and dim (on fans with compatible, dimmable light fixtures). The 5-way D-pad allows you to choose High, Medium or Low fan speeds, stop the fan, and with compatible reversible fans, you can also reverse the fan remotely. There is also a slide switch at the bottom that toggles power to the switch and fan on and off, which seems a little strange, but I suppose it's there to make it more difficult for someone to unintentionally turn the light or fan on when you want it to remain off.Came with white and biscuit/beige colored cover plates and switch plates. The controller is large and requires a deep box, so make sure you have adequate clearance for installation. In a multi-gang box with lots of wires you might have some trouble squeezing it in.

Pros: Not too many words on this. It does what it says and does it right. Installs fine. i can go on about design but you see the picture. You like how it looks buy it you don't then don't. I like it.Cons: I don't understand why a fuse will be inside the unit. If you open it I believe you void the warranty. The fuse is soldered inside the unit. Why? Unless you can install it yourself you would have to call an electrician if your unit goes out? Fortunately for me this was an installation since I'm an electrician. I've installed hundreds of switches, controllers, etc... This however is a lot more sensitive. It blew a fuse, yes certainly my fault for not turning off the breaker but nothing like this had ever happened. I open the darn thing and there it is...a blown fuse. I ended up buying another unit. Why the four stars. Well, I really liked how it looked and performed once installed.

My Minka Aire standard white fan stopped working after 10 good years. I'm no expert, but I noticed that the little 'ON/OFF' toggle on the wall control no longer lit up, so I figured the control was kaput. Ordered this unit, after confirming the model # compatibility, had a handyman install it (which involves reconnecting wires - beyond my pay grade), and voila - it works again. The new part comes with 3 color plates (beige, white, black), both for the inner and outer faces. Bonus: the remote control unit now works, too, so I guess it needs a functioning wall control unit to be usable. Happy!

These are ridiculously complicated... programming on remote and if power failure have to reprogram
