I read that woodpeckers, other birds, and different flying bugs don’t like moving sparkly things. 30 years ago I would have hung a few extra AOL CD-roms from my eves since I received them in the mail weekly if not daily. Happily those days have passed and the landfills are glad. Casting my imagination about, I landed on the idea of DISCO BALLS! These aren’t rated for outdoor use so this may only last a summer. In 200 years, my oaks (which predate California becoming a state) never ever had “disco ball earrings†on their bingo cards. My hypothesis that these would work on woodpeckers pecking my house has not yet been disproven, I may or may not have heard one flying away exclaiming “At first I was afraid, I was PETRIFIED!†It’s possible Gloria Gaynor was singing about woodpeckers all along. Overall, it’s a $9 experiment. I’ll update if I find out my hypothesis was wrong, but so far, if you’d like a fun way to tell the birds to keep their peckers out of your woodwork, this seems to fit the bill (I’m not even sorry about that one!)

I am planning to use these for my locker this year. When they arrived, I noticed one of the strings on the disco ball had fallen out of the styrofoam. The tiny mirrors are also not sturdy. My advice: use hot glue. It's an easy and simple solution. Otherwise, I love these!

It's clear this is cheaply made because the ball is shaped styrofoam and the mirrorball pieces are loosely glued on and easy to fall off with little effort. You get what you pay for I guess.

SO cheap. The attachments for the string just fall out of the Styrofoam. Also, the mirrored pieces are so haphazardly slapped on that you see large bits of the styrofoam too.

Both are missing pieces and shows the styrofoam. I mean they are disco balls but like I feel like I could’ve done a better DIY project. If looking for a cheap party decor okay but as it’s decor in my home. I had my expectations high for something so simple.

Both strings broke within a couple weeks and they couldn’t hang anymore, I just have them on display on a shelf instead
