The unit appears to be compatible with the Mitutoya linear dial gauge but has not been tested yet.

Its ridiculous that Mitutoyo makes you by this and a separate proprietary "SPC" cable just to get serial output from their gauge. It has a stupid button and is overpriced. But, it works. I have my serial output now.

The advantage of the RS-232C version over the USB is that you can trigger a read of the data from the PC by sending a character out the serial port. However, sometimes you want to emulate a keyboard so it can enter data in any program. I've created a program on codeplex for just this purpose (search on codeplex for "mitutoyo").This is a great device for reading from your Mitutoyo SPC capable tools and this software makes it even more flexible!
