This locks so tight- even when the cat decides to walk along the top it holds up really well. It’s smooth rolling retraction and works great! The installation isn’t bad, just know the one part is moveable (I did not realize this and added a few extra holes in our doorway 😅 who gave me power tools anyways!?)It’s also pretty sleek and not tacky in the room

Super easy to put up and they are extremely durable, we use them to keep our dog out of the baby areas, he’s a 100 pound bully and it withstands him, also my 9 year old that’s constantly opening and closing them. They also look way better than the metal ones and makes vacuuming and mopping the areas easier since there’s no bottom bar

Purchased for it's retractablity for our odd stairs. Easy to use, sturdy, and stops baby from climbing the stairs. Follow the instructions to a tee in order for the gate to be taught when in use. Only downside is the button to lock the gate can be hard to do one handed if you have baby in arms.

Pros: Easy to use from either side, fits range of opening width, fully retracts well, can stay closed and not be locked, safe for outdoor use, right height for decks, attractive, multiple colors, removable base unit for off-season.Cons: tricky to install, requires drilling on both sides but doesn’t include template for where to drill, requires base pieces to be permanently installed on both sides of doorway, motivated dogs (and probably kids cunder 1) can inch under even when locked because of fabric design.We needed a deck gate to let our dog laze on our outdoor deck without a line getting tangled around deck furniture. It’s at the top of 3 outdoor steps. We needed something that easily opened and closed from both sides (not a pressure gate), was attractive (no plastics), durable for outside, easily removable for off-season, and could accommodate deck height (excluded most metal gates).I prefer the look of dark metal, but the only one we could find that met our requirements, was durable, and fit our deck opening was a very expensive, permanently installed metal gate with an extension. It was going to run around $300 or so. This is so much nicer once we were able to manually line up the drill holes. It’s so nice that it is barely noticeable when it’s not in use, something few gates can offer. It is about 4†or so fully retracted so we don’t bump into it when using the steps and elderly relatives don’t have a problem.I was pleasantly surprised to learn that with a click or two, the whole retracting unit removes leaving just 2 small plastic mounts on each side, so I don’t have to worry about snowy Northeastern winters or it coming off and damaging something during a hurricane.Our dog snuck under it once, but I don’t think he liked the experience especially since a step was immediately on the other side. I suspect he tumbled a little but didn’t see it. Perhaps if we’d installed it a little lower, but sometimes we just put a plant in front of it.

It did not survive a day of Doodle puppies while we were all working! We’re now going back to the drawing board to find a solution to keep the dogs out of the kitchen and bathroom when no one is home…

Serves its purpose. It’s a little pricey for the quality. Functions well, but the latches are kind of BAD quality . Height is good for bottom of our stairs

This gate is great for my mini doxi! Easy to install (per my husband) and easy to use. Very sturdy when it’s locked. He used screws to secure it. The size we bought was perfect for our hallway. Will be easy to fill the very small holes from the screws.And when the gate is open, I love how much more room there is with this one than there was with my previous one! We had the “swing door gateâ€. Getting anything through that gate ended in a disaster!

This product is okay-quality, comes with a wild amount of hardware, and has no instructions, which is fine. However, we got this to prevent our cat from entering a certain room. The gate material itself is too soft, so despite it being mounted with the bottom flush to the floor, the cat is still able to get under it. I wanted to write this review for anyone who wanted to get this for a cat. I'm sure it works fine for bigger animals and kids, but definitely not cats. Unfortunate false advertising with the product photo.

Gate is useful and have to observe proper locking when in use.
