When the Grateful dead toured in the early 70's, for a while they travelled with their Wall of Sound. The idea was that a separate speaker and amplifier for every part of every instrument would eliminate harmonic distortion and optimize the sound. It was a great invention, but of limited benefit considering the 16 hours needed to set it up and take it down.It's still a sound idea to separate frequency bands. Speakers and amplifiers can be optimized for the frequency range. You can mix them for the sound you want without having a sound engineer on a mixer board.This device does an excellent job of separating your input into different frequency bands. There's lots of versatility as you can set it up for 2, 3, or 4 bands. Controls on the front panel are smooth, and connections are balanced XLR for minimal noise. You have precise controi of your sound.The 1U rack mount format is perfect for a portable rack, or for permanent rack mounting. It's an actual 120 v power connection, not a power adapter, making it even more convenient for rack use. The sound quality is excellent, and I can make the best use of separate midrange and bass amplifiers.

I'm surprised by the quality of this crossover. It has very solid feeling controls and the connections fit nice and tight. The sound is easy to adjust and is flexible enough to use as a stereo or mono crossover.
