I work as a Union Commercial Carpenter and we hang doors all the time and need to make sure they are plumb. When the Tajima plumb bob came on the market they were all the rage. Moonwell took that design and in my opinion made it better and less expensive (about $10 less). Mine is in my tool box on every job. Other carpenters have borrowed it and love it too. The bob is incredibly heavy which makes it very steady for taking quick measurements so we can hang the dry wall and secure the door in place and move on. Also, the string is super long so it is useful for any job.

I cannot compare to Tajima brand, as I don't have a Tajima to compare to. But the Moonwell plumb bob works well and steadys really fast. Magnet holds well to metal parts and pin holds well in wood parts. Can adjust tension on the self retracting string if one would want to change the plumb to a heavier or lighter model; I haven't changed the plumb myself but I did adjust the tensioning to test.As stated before, I don't have a Tajima to compare, but seems the Moonwell offers about $8 to $10 value feature to feature on comparable Tajima model.

Good quality and works great but if you use it enough you might pull the set nail out or bend it. Great tool for setting tall wall forms or doors!

Very well worth the price. The magnet is strong, the strong works great . The mechanism that controls and retracts the strong feed works great

I see people often comparing these to lasers. This is much cheaper than a laser, and more useful in some cases. This will allow you to measure how far away something is from a wall in comparison to something else. For that use and for vertical reference, I really like this unit. It made my garage door trim rebuild easier. The 2 mounting methods are nice. The magnet is pretty strong. The Bob is hefty and works as advertised.

I do not know who bob is but this thing works. A magnet that sticks and string that swings until its tired and has no energy, then just hangs there.

The bob steady's very easily because it has a little pivot point on top which acts as shock absorber for small shakes. The Pin that you nail into wood nails in just fine but the only mechanical bond is made from a hot plastic weld so the very first time I pulled it from the wood the pin broke off of the nailing rod. I fixed this with epoxy. The joints on the plastic reel were not tight in places, similar to most Chinese products and if dirt get inside these things over time the reel will get clogged up and not work, had to epoxy the gaps shut as well.It comes in a box that is for a different model of plumb bob reel, so the directions are no helpBut the bob alone is almost worth the $30 it costs for the whole setup.
