As advertised, it's a folding music stand, a bit more substantial than the flimsy wire stands, but much less substantial than the ones with metal plates.It can be used either on a desktop (top 1/3 of the stand only) or on the floor (top piece inserted into the vertical extender and the bottom tripod.) Adjusting the tripod is a bit fiddly; you'll think it has fallen apart, when really it's just a "tighten the clamp to hold it together, loosen the clamp and it comes off" deal.Suitable for indoor use in a place where it won't get kicked and won't get hit by a strong breeze. Be warned it'll be difficult to clip on a lamp if you're in a dark corner.

Its much sturdier than you expect from a folding stand. Works great for my son.

My daughter in college needed a portable stand for her violin classes and performances. The main criteria were ease of operation and light weight. This stand met both. Let me not mislead you though. This stand isn't sturdy. It is light and easy to carry and use. That's it. Don't expect a sturdy unit for what it costs (under 15 bucks!). Think of this as a disposable unit that will likely fall apart after a semester or two of classes. But for the price, ease of use, and light weight, it would be hard to beat this one.

It's overall nice stand , especially for the money. I took it out in its carrying bag for the first time for rehearsal and the zipper came apart completely . Very cheap zipper.. Im hoping I can get a replacement bag from the company or will have to take it and get it fixed.

This is a good size stand for me to take with me. Often I go to a church and think they will have one. I went to a church just a couple of days ago and there was no music stand for me to use. It was such a pain!No more! I'm taking one in my car just in case for just such a time.This isn't quite strong enough to feel secure with larger books. For sheet music or small books, it's just great.
