Easy to use and while colors were somewhat subjective, it got us in the ballpark and we amended our garden soil for a great bounty this year.

Well priced, received quickly and was easy to use.The pack gives a useful range of testing the N, P, K and Ph levels of soils so that gardens can be productive and any added fertilisers can be applied without unnecessary waste.

Although I can't be sure that the results are accurate, of course - I'll just have to assume they are. But the instructions were very straight-forward and easy to follow - along with diagrams for extra clarification. Also included in the booklet was an in-depth, but simple, explanation about soil testing. Very thorough package. I was initially not aware that it is best to let the soil sample air dry for a day, so that delayed my schedule a bit - but I figured it must be important so I waited the extra day. But either way, the process only took a few minutes so it was okay. The results were very obvious - which I appreciated - since sometimes the readings on some tests are really tough to discern what the color actually is. The kit has more than enough tablets for the average homeowner to last the year - probably more than I'll ever need. Overall, a great value for the price; I'd buy it again.

Two obvious facts: low, medium and high are subjective results; and accuracy can only be confirmed by an independent lab.I have a lemon tree located in the Phoenix, AZ area with many leaves turning yellow during the winter months. So I wanted to determine if it was: a water issue, natural changing of season condition or some mineral or nutrient deficiency. I thought I give one of these soil test kits a try to see if anything falls way out of line. I like this test kit because the chemical additives were pills in a blister pack for freshness and ease of use. The instructions were easy to follow and execute. I dug down 6-7 inches near the lemon tree and obtained a soil sample. I let the soil sample dry out overnight. I use a fine mesh strainer to remove twigs, pebbles, roots etc. I opened a new sealed gallon of distilled water, and following the instructions I obtained the results pictured. All the results were reasonably discernable except for the potassium results. According to the instructions you place the test vial over the black squares in the potassium section of the color chart (yellow section) and the higher the potassium the clearer (lighter) is the test results. So I either have high potassium or the chemical additive pill did not work. I have read other reviews where other people have also received a similar potassium result.Retesting potassium seems to be a waste of time since the other test results seem normal. Testing against a high potassium chemical slurry would be confusing because of concentration issues and in addition, other missing components in dirt may be required for the potassium chemical pill additive to properly work.It would be nice if the manufacturer would include some helpful guidelines on what to expect as normal and abnormal test results; abnormal such as: wrong color, overly intense color, clear, etc.Since the potassium result is confusing, it would be hard to recommend this test kit.

I used the test kit on three different soil samples from the area around three bushes in different areas. All areas had been fertilized the previous Spring. All results showed a very low concentration of both nitrogen and phosphorus. The potassium sample was completely clear. The chart indicated I should expect shades of grey or black with a low concentration. I question the accuracy of this test. All tests were done strictly according to direction. I used distilled water with testing.
