2005 Mercury Sable. Turn the wheel to access the forward piece of the RF wheel well liner. Remove that half of the liner. The pump in located inside the front bumper cavity just behind the right foglight. Carefully twist off the smaller hose and have a small bucket ready to catch any washer fluid that drains. Disconnect the hardshell, and gently twist (and pull) the pump out of the reservoir. I had to blindly reach into the reservoir's pump opening to retrieve the rubbery filter screen. The Motorcraft part comes with a new rubber screen plug. To make things easier to install the new pump, I used a very thin coating of dielectric grease on the hose(s) to pump points. So, a bit on the outer part of the rubbery screen grommet and (on the pump itself) the larger nozzle that inserts into the reservoir and the smaller hose nozzle. Reinstall the way you took it off. DO NOT USE DIELECTRIC on the electrical hardshell connector! Spray some CRC if you want to clean it before reconnecting. The pump itself works! I've never had to replace it- the car is 20 years old and has almost 250K on it. Not bad at all- that's why I went with the Motorcraft pump as the replacement.

This seems like a good deal. The auto parts store was selling off-brand washer pumps for $17, but I decided to spend the extra money to get a real Motorcraft. There is a substantial trade in counterfeit auto parts, but this seems to be a real Motorcraft and is marked "Made in Switzerland" as is the original one that came in my truck. To get out the old one you need to remove the reservoir. To do this you need to first remove the battery and then remove the battery cradle. Then you can get at the three bolts holding the reservoir in place. There are two that connect to the side of the truck, and one that goes to the bottom. It's the one on the side at the bottom that necessitates the removal of the battery cradle. The instructions suggest a dry graphite lubricant when installing the filter seal. I used a tiny bit of silicone lubricant to help pop the pump into the filter seal, but I've seen this done with WD40. The instructions are included and you should follow them because if you put the filter seal on the pump first and then try to install the pump you will not be able to get it in!!! You'll need a 13mm socket, a ratchet, and a long extension to get out the bolts. Start to finish took me about an hour, but I move a bit slow. The bag is marked "Rear Washer Pump" but it worked fine for me.

Works well, hope it does for a long time. Wasn’t hard to change out.

Install was easy enough on my 2005 f250. If not sure, watch a YouTube. If for some reason it does not work right then use a paperclip to clean out the squirter holes as they can gum up too .

How long have you driven without a windshield washer that is working to wash your windows. For me, just over a year. I was lazy, I don't drive the truck much, finally the intersection of some time and the inclination to do this was coming up, I cheaped out and ordered up an aftermarket part, geeked that I was going to save about half the cost. Then I had my truck all apart in my driveway, and this aftermarket plug, while it looked identical, it didn't fit.SO I quickly ordered up the genuine motorcraft part, and it was here the next day.It went in the existing tank, with no problems,The old screen got a blockage, which the starved the OE pump and burned it out, so it's nice to have this one back.On my older F350 with the V10 the job would take about 1.5 hours for the typical shade tree wrench, and under an hour for a wrench who knows what they are doing and has the tools right by them.Mine took a little longer only because I had to rebuild the battery tray since it was all starting to rust out from many years of battery acids.Overall, if your washer isn't squirting, and you know it's not the lines or nozzles it's a pretty good bet it's the pump and it's an easyish fix.Although it's weird how one of my Fords uses a bunch of metric hardware and the the other one uses a lot of SAE hardware., But that has nothing to do with this part, this part is good.
