Great Device. Should not need 12v power. Should operate off battery. Accurate sensor and display but reading caps out at 248F. Much too low. Cylinder head temps on a modified 212cc engine hover between 300 and 400 regularly.

Seems to be high quality for what it is. I also had to extend the wires for my boat, which was easily done.30 years ago they would have killed for this technology, a bolt on temperature sensor that is easily read. I have a 1980 Johnson 70hp 2 stroke outboard. The overheat alarm doesn’t go off until things are already too hot in my opinion.Only con is it seems to be about +/- 3 degrees at times after testing, which is a non issue when you’re worried about temps exceeding significantly more than that. Overall a great item.

The product itself seems well made and very easy to read. I feel this product is useless for cylinder temps since most air cooled engines reach well over 120 Celsius. This product will not read anything over 120
