I purchased one of these microphones back in 2015 and it has worked great - still using it. I've had many cheap microphones that come in package deals since then and most of them are poor sound quality and even Mono sound. But not this one - it is stereo! So I purchased another Movo VXR40000 for my second camera! Love it!I've never had a microphone that cost hundreds of dollars - so I can't compare sound quality to this, but if you are looking for an inexpensive microphone that works great and produces stereo sound - Get this one!

I'm not being over emotional in this review, I'm trying to save you from wasting your time/money.The quality of the audio is terrible. There is a can sound to this microphone.Tons of static. It's supposed to be a Shotgun microphone but I had to and no joke here, put my mouth to the end of the microphone just to get a recording.I'm a developer who has studied film and I can safely say buying this will be a disappointment.Don't waste your money, might I suggest buying a lav mic? It will produce much better quality and gives you more versatility.

I gave the VXR4000 3 stars without ever having actually used it. It may work for voice recording like a dream. It might also be utter rubbish and the 3 stars may be too generous. What I can tell you about the VXR4000 is that it looks and feels CHEAP. The shock absorbing system is some rubber bands. The cradle that mounts to the hot shoe, and which the mic is rubber banded to, is cheap feeling thin plastic. The Mic body is cheap feeling plastic. I realize that some folks are on a budget and the $202 asking price for the Rode Videomic Pro is $160 more expensive than this. And maybe for certain applications, this $40 mic is all you want or need. And that's another reason why I gave it 3 out of 5 stars. But if you are buying this mic for armature video making, pod casting, or any of a hundred applications that place your needs above simply messing around, the RODE videomic Pro is where you want to be starting. I bought this with a $900 entry level DSLR camera, (Nikon D5300), and sent it back and re ordered the Rode which I should have just done in the first place. For messing around in your basement, this may be just what you want. But if you are moving on from just messing around into more serious applications, even some professional applications, the rode for $202 is money well spent.

Works very well, no wind noise even in 40+ winds. I'm glad with the quality and the price point.

The Movo microphone is a bargain for the quality and ease of use. "DSLR Video Shooter" from Youtube did a wonderful full review on this product that I would recommend if you are needing more information. Out of the three he reviewed, I went for this one and I am glad I did.I won't go into super detail as his video did but I do have one issue with this mic that makes it not have a 5 star rating. The turn "screw plate" that creates a more defined hold on the hot shoe is plastic (as is the rest of it) and doesnt hold on SUPER well. I havent had any issues with it on a tripod or moving around myself but if you are super active you'd want to be aware of this fact. There may be ways to secure it better and I may simply have a loose one. It doesnt affect the overall feel or quality of the mic.Record quality is nice and leaps beyond the camera's inner microphone systems (I use a Panasonic GH5). For the price it's simply hard to beat. It's the perfect mic for that in between time when you can't afford a Rhode mic Pro but still want good sound from your camera.-Side edit-I purchased mine for less than $30. I cannot recommend it for more than that price. I certainly wouldn't recommend it for anything over $40. It's a fantastic sub $30 purchase and I am sure it can be found for that price given time or website.

So nice to have an external microphone. Need some adjustments to the hotshoe mount but not a big deal.

It worked good, but hasn't good quality sound. I had to buy a better microphone later because this one does not fill my necessities. Battery last really short.
