Type 31 toroid ferrite cores are primarily used for noise suppression for lower frequencies in the HF spectrum. As a licensed ham radio operator, I put this to use to reduce RFI coming into the shack. This is very easy to do simply by making a number of turns of the feed line through the center of the toroid and then securing with a plastic zip tie.This toroid is good quality and I expect it to last for years. With the size, I can easily get a good number of turns through it to reduce RFI. Highly recommended.

I ran eight turns of feedline through this, located before the feedpoint of my end-fed antenna, and my laptop's trackpack has finally stopped glitching when I transmit on 80 meters. I haven't compared this to the name-brand, but I'm a happy camper.
