Great iron with terrific features. Good weight and size. Heats up quickly. Automatic shut-off is perfect for an absent minded old man like myself. I can iron clothes in half the time it took me with my old iron. Steam function excellent. And I love the retractable cord.

I rate this iron as above average but with a couple of flaws. The heat plate is slick and smooth and glides nice on fabric and the spray and steam functions work well with clean and responsive action. It also has good water capacity and I like that it filters tap water and actually discourages the use of distilled water. However, it seems the iron doesn't get as hot as the Panasonic iron we bought at Walmart 25 years ago (which has been a fantastic iron, by the way), but I can't verify that. The two obvious flaws are first, there is a tiny hole in the plastic cover (obviously part of the design) that snaps over the hole where you fill the iron with water so while ironing in a back and forth motion small spurts of water will shoot out of the tiny hole and onto the fabric which is a bit annoying. Second, the power cord is sheathed in soft rubber instead of a harder, smooth rubber or plastic so while ironing the cord grabs and drags along the ironing board cover, and more annoyingly, grabs the fabric being ironed (most particularly the bottom of a shirt) pulling it back and forth like an accordion instead of sliding over the top, so you have to lift the power cord off the fabric and re-iron the part that was wrinkled by the cord. So I would say, yes, it's a good iron and I can live with the tiny hole spurting water, but that dang soft rubbery cord makes me scratch my head about the manufacturer's design and testing process.

Overall this is a great iron at a great price. It heats up quickly and creates lots of steam. It has an easy to use water sprayer and a fairly large water capacity. It has strong locking cord retractor. The electrical cord is about 8 feet and should be plugged directly into a wall outlet. I tried a thin wire extension and the iron turned itself off. I replaced the extension with a heavy 5 foot cord designed for air conditioners and now I have no problem. FYI out of the box, the first time I used the iron it had a strong electrical smell but that quickly disappeared.

Like many who posted, I have been sewing/quilting for many years. I've worn out two Black N Decker irons, one Hamilton Beach iron and 2 ironing boards. I was looking for something similar to my most recent iron; B n D, from Walmart, maybe with a few extra perks. I thought I had found it in this Mueller iron. I did not.To start, the box arrived in a damaged plastic shipping bag. The box was also damaged , but there was no damage to the iron. The "New" sticker proclaimed as such. Everything was wrapped and the sole plate had a protective cover. The small icons on the iron are difficult to see., even with magnifying glasses. The steam setting dial is a slide switch that is very inconsistent. There is no "off" for the iron, unless it is unplugged. And as one reviewer said, this iron is "big boy." The power cord recoils into the base, which helps make it large and heavy. Even with reader glasses the temperature dial is difficult to see; the pointer is nearly invisible. The iron also beeps much more than I expected. Once it reaches desired temp, it sounds like a fuse popping. Very startling. (That is what I hope it was doing...indicating ready)The water tank is large, but hard to read the level. Included was a small pitcher to fill/refill, but I had to hold the iron nearly horizontal to fill . Ugh.I found that there is a burst of steam when lifting the iron from what is being ironed. As if it is vertically steamed, I don't need to steam the air.I did like that there is a narrower tip on the sole plate, made it easier to reach tight corners. Not loving, or even liking this iron.Unfortunately, I missed the return window; and the box is gone, and now I am stuck with it.It's going to make a great gift for someone; I'm going back to Black N Decker.

It’s light , easy to use, nice pointy tip for professional looking pressing. The steam produced (when desired) is excellent- just what I need to freshen up clothes which hang in a closet for a while. Retractable cord for the win! UPDATE: There are only two people in our home, and the iron has been used lightly, but regularly about twice a week. This morning, I noticed that even though the iron heats sufficiently to randomly produce steam, the convenient trigger for a puff of steam is no longer working. It seems like maybe a spring broke. I guess I'm looking for a new iron now ):

This is the 4th iron in the last few weeks. First one, no steam. Second one leaked. Third leaked and cord would not retract. Decided to try a different brand and finally, success. No leaking, cord works, and it actually does a good job. Heats up fast. Hope it lasts for a long time.

Although this iron basically does work as it should, the cord re-winder died after about 3 uses. Being a nice new feature I was looking forward to using, (cord winding coming undone, always a storage problem with these appliances). So now, after spending a not inconsiderable sum of money, back to square one.....
