Used this tester to identify the Collector/Base/Emitter leads on vintage Germanium transistors that had absolutely no orientation markings.. It was quick and easily identified the leads which would have been very time consuming if it had to be done using a VOM. Also works great for double checking resistors with hard to read color codes and capacitors with tiny markings. An indispensable tool once you start using it.

The display went out on the first one after a year or so, but it was worth ordering another. It's hard to vouch for the accuracy of all of the values it measures, but comparing some with my Fluke III it appears to be fairly accurate. Good tool for the hobbyist, which I am.

I gave it only 3 stars because it did not come with a manual which means you have to track it down on the internet. The listing should have had a link to down load it from the seller. The main problem I had with it was it could not test a Triac #: bt136-600d this is a popular Triac I purchased on Amazon. The tester says it's a transistor not a Triac and gives the symbol of a transistor. Accuracy is what you would expect at this price. I include a ESR chart you can print and use with this tester.

Works perfectly with just about any component you throw at it. Gives all the information you would want. Not 100% accurate, but good enough for ballpark testing. Love it.

This is my first device of this type, but I own multimeters, clamp-on amp meters, logic analyzers, and an oscilloscope and have worked with electronics since shortly after the dinosaurs died.While it is hard to beat a scope for all round do-it-all and in-depth capabilities, this thing kind of blew my mind. The amount of information available just for checking transistors is truly amazing. but it also does capacitors, diodes and resisters!No more even having to look up the data sheet, plug it in, press the button. Not only do you know if it is PNP or NPN or MosFet etc. but you know the gain and if it is burnt out or not. Maybe this tester will burn out in a week, and no it is not a thing-of-beauty or an art object, but it sure seems to do the job. If it doesn't die in a week it is certainly one of the best bang-for-the-buck pieces of test equipment I have seen.

I have a couple of multimeters but I wanted something flexible to sit on my worktop. This fits the bill. It has proved to be accurate. The battery does not last long but if you leave it plugged in to a charger it is fine. The leads are short but work fine. There was no instruction sheet with the package but I did find some online. All in all I am happy with this meter.

I love this device, way easier than reading the codes for my old eyes. I highly recommend this product for anyone who works with electronic components that have leads. Of course, it wont do any thing for surface mount object. It gives all the values you need for the component. Even works when you make your own capacitors or inductors.
