The slicers that are on the market are created with what appears to be a thin wire, which is fine if you are only working on eggs. This slicer is highly recommended because we have used this with eggs, mushrooms, strawberries, olives, etc. I purchased this as a replacement from my last one (it was over 15 years old) and the only reason I had to replace it was because my husband used it on something and bent the blade. This slicer is extremely durable — it may be more expensive than some of the other ones on the market, HOWEVER, this is made to last. We use this slicer a lot!

I bought this product five years ago to slice fresh mushrooms. It worked flawlessly until recently when one of the blades broke. It’s a little bit pricey, but well worth it for the convenience of being able to slice those large, fresh mushrooms a lot faster, and safer than I can do it by hand.

I was excited to get this slicer but the design is terrible.. I chose it because it had blades rather than wire. It would be nice if it were bigger and the blades went completely through the egg. It doesn't so you have to pull the egg off and pieces break off the egg into the slicer. It is so small even regular large eggs barely fit You can forget about jumbo eggs, they wouldn't fit at all. I used it on strawberries and it worked well. Use a quick motion so they dont squish. I haven't tried mushrooms yet, but again you won't be able to do anything larger than 2 inches or the sides will squish it. It's round so turning it is of no benefit. Miss my old wire one that was a lot bigger but finally broke after 20 years.Update: I've been using this slicer for a month now. I really, really don't like it. I have to use my thumbs to keep the egg pushed back or it slides forward and gets squished. I usually end up with egg pieces instead of slices no matter how careful I am. I eat a hard boiled egg sandwich every morning so this gets used daily. I've used it on warm and cold eggs. Very, very disappointed. In fact, I just ordered a different slicer. I hope it works better. I am honestly shocked that anyone likes this poorly designed slicer. It's terrible.

I purchased this product after being fed up with fixing the wires of my previous slicer. I use this tool for slicing eggs, strawberries, mushrooms, kiwi...so I wanted one that had strong solid metal blades. That is what I thought this was. While it has solid, metal blades instead of wires, I found the blades to be slightly flimsy. It cuts eggs and cooked beets well, but mushrooms and firmer fruits are harder to cut and can bend the blades. Stronger blades would be nice. But it does the trick for now and is easy to use and clean.

Large mushrooms, eggs, or fruit will not fit into this cutter without getting squashed on one side. The blades do not cut as much as they squash then cut. I guess they are just not as sharp as I would have liked.

We've tried them all- FINALLY-- the best egg damn egg slicer around! Finally, a durable, elegant egg slicer that is actually dishwasher safe (to sterilize in hot water; do not leave in water, anything can and does rust)! We've used for months now, even leaving it in water overnight- it shows no sign of rust and blades are not stretched or crooked. Our ONLY complaint is that this will only cut large and smaller-sized eggs "neatly" and cleanly; Extra Large or JUMBO eggs may have to be cut "on end" - or cut in half first, then put them thru the slicer. Perfect no stick cuts. Five Stars!!!!!

I use these kind of slicers more for mushrooms than eggs. I got tired of the flimsy little wires that most of them have breaking. These blades work great. It’s kind of hard to clean. I cut my finger the first time I tried, learned to be more careful. Oh, and that it’s pretty dang sharp. But it’s worth the trade off for one that won’t break. And it’s tough enough I just put it in the dishwasher usually.

I bought one years ago and a guest admired it, so I surprised him with it as a gift. It works great on mushrooms and small tomatoes where an egg slicer can’t handle the resistance. Be careful as it is sharp and weighted.
