At first we weren't sure this was the right solution to our baluster bottoms but once we had the concept figured out, we realized there was no other way but these 'shoes' to hide the cuts / hardware used to affix the balusters to the stair treads. They slip right over the top of the baluster and all the way down to give the bottoms a refined finish. Without them, I was able to see my "handyman's" cut mistakes, even though I really didn't want more hardware on the stairs. But these ended up being so nice that I like the look even better than just the baluster bottom going into the wood.Super easy to use, just slip over the top of the baluster before installing the handrail, then tighten at the bottom with the set screw and they're completely immovable.
