I don't know what is up with the instructions but they have a line that says not to use sand yet it is clearly listed as an option in the ad and on the gun hopper. The little elastic band for keeping the screen in place was irritatingly in the way every time I replaced the cap so I discarded it.I have some Jeep wheels I've been cleaning up to either reapply clear coat or simply paint. Last year I spent lots and lots of time on them first with, obviously, soap and water. Then I moved on to Comet and some wet/dry sandpaper. I put them aside until I have time to use other methods as they are way down on the priority page. I decided to try this out on the backside of one for testing. The included goggles are basically worthless. It would take a ratchet strap to get them snug enough for safely using.I knew my little compressor likely wouldn't be enough for this but tried it. It cycled on too frequently to do much. Gave me time to try out my new setup though which worked much better but still isn't the practical choice. A large compressor would be best.I haven't tried the siphon feed yet but the gravity feed did pretty good. If I was doing the set I would definitely switch to siphon as the gravity feed hopper requires lots of filling on something this size.I had some trash bags/barrel liners that were see-through enough as a temporary measure. I placed the wheel in it, put the gun in, and pulled the bag closed enough to keep the sand off of me.I'll be picking up some clear polycarbonate for at least a shield but probably as part of a box not only to keep it off of me but also to contain the blast material for easier cleanup and reclamation.Good goggles will surely protect your eyes during use but a lot of material will come back on you. I once got a piece of slag in my eye AFTER turning off my torch. It fell down from my shield when I was removing it. The same can happen with sand or your other choice of material so be sure to take the necessary measures to prevent it.Good product. Good value.

Assuming you have a compatible air compressor and sanding media this works pretty good. I didn't even know some of things you could do with a sand blaster before reading the instructions lol. Choosing the right sanding media is important tho! If you're doing autobody work, removing rust, or etching designs onto glass. Just to name a few lol. Each requires completely different stuff or your ruin the project/ it won't work. The build quality isn't the greatest but for the price it's not bad at all. Comes with a complete setup to get started (without sanding media).

It's a really nice kit. It comes with everything you need to get started except the sand.** Make sure your air compressor supplies enough CFM. If not it won't work properly. This is perfect for small projects, cleaning tools, small parts, etching.

Works well, but this should be sold with or at the least provided a very clear instruction as to the importance of a high quality respirator! It's easy to set up though, and I had no issues using it. Just needs to be better communicated that you need airway protection

I got this siphon feed blaster after I had the hopper feed only unit. This is the same exact blaster but with a siphon feed option. If I'm doing a little more extensive blasting, then I go to this one. Also, this blaster doesn't suffer the same media flowing out when not being used as the other model does. But only when it's in siphon mode. It does the same thing in gravity feed as the other model. You have to hold the nozzle up when not actively blasting to prevent the media from slowly pouring out the nozzle. Once you get your air pressure set right and the media flow set right, this seems to work really well with the walnut media I've been using for removing rust from tools, grill grates, bicycle parts, etc.

This is a nice, inexpensive tool that will save you a ton of wire brushing in the future. It comes with everything you need to get started, minus the sand and compressor. I used it to take a rusted steel bumper down to bare metal and it did a fantastic job. I am very happy with this product.

I restore old lamps as a hobby and they invariable have areas of corrosion on them that needs to be cleaned off. A lot of the so-called "white metal" used for casting in the 1920s and 1930s has degraded from electrolysis so can be delicate/fragile. Chemicals and sanding work for some of this but other times this is not enough. In the past I've relied on plating/powder coating shops to do the sand blasting but because they usually work with industrial items, their equipment is too heavy duty and I end up having to do repairs later on.I'm still experimenting with different mediums to figure out what works best. And it is messy to use (not something you want to do at the kitchen table ;-) So I am still in trial-and-error learning mode but I like the results I am seeing so far, with much less damage being done.
