Good to use with a 2x6 board. About 1.5 inch eye and about 1/2 inch on the bolt side. The 8 inches is overall. Used to anchor my tilt-up garage door springs.

I've ordered these twice (attaching turnbuckles to a fence). Each time they come with a piece of tape wrapped around the shank, I guess it's some kind of identifier. I wish they'd put this tape on the eye instead of the threaded shank--it doesn't peel off easily, and pieces that adhere to the threads make it hard to run a nut down past the tape.Speaking of the nut, it's supposed to come with one--most did, but the last one I received did not. I have spares in my shop, but if I didn't it would have meant a trip to the local Big Box. QC should have caught this.
