About this item

  • These Natural Habitat Basking Rocks we have found to be excellent choices for basking rocks, as well as for building habitat rock formations for various reptiles, amphibians and turtles.
  • Grouped by general size (medium or large) and color (Blue Green, Deep Maroon, Painted Desert, Uluru Red and Watarrka Rose). Hand selected to typically have at least one side basically flat. The medium sizes about 6” x 8” and large sizes about 7-1/4” x 12-5/8”.
  • As a basking rock, there’s enough natural porosity that although the rock gets warm accumulating heat, it doesn’t get too hot; as glazed ceramic tile or slate would.
  • Since these are real rocks (not cast resin or coated Styrofoam) each one is a little different. Carolina Custom Cages is a division of Carolina Designer Dragons, Inc.; a boutique breeder of bearded dragons, selections on our website.

These Natural Habitat Basking Rocks we have found to be an excellent choice for basking rocks, as well as for building habitat rock formations for various reptiles, amphibians and turtles. As a basking rock, there’s enough natural porosity that although the rock gets warm accumulating heat, it doesn’t get too hot; as glazed ceramic tile or slate would. As an aesthetic element in the habitat, they offer a truly natural accessory piece which is also manageable to keep clean. Natural rock also provides a means for self-grooming of reptile claws. These are real rocks (not cast resin or coated Styrofoam) and each one is unique. Grouped by general size (medium or large) and color (Blue Green, Deep Maroon, Painted Desert, Uluru Red and Watarrka Rose). Hand selected to typically have at least one side basically flat. The medium sizes about 6” x 8” and large sizes about 7-1/4” x 12-5/8”. We scrub the Natural Habitat Rocks that we use periodically in hot water, with a brush reserved for that purpose, followed by chlorhexidine. I bought this to add to my bearded dragons enclosure. It arrived in one big slab. I scrubbed it with a brush to wash off anything that he might could swallow. It didn’t crumble or flake, just a little dust washed off. My hope is that it will help file his nails but even if it doesn’t it looks really cool all the same. I’m very satisfied with the size and overall quality of this product.*update*: I decided to go back and buy the two medium slabs (see picture). They arrived intact with no issues. They were larger that I expected but since I have several reptile enclosures I know I’ll find use for them. I’m going to order some smaller ones in the future.

We just acquired a bearded dragon. He had a few accessories but it was obvious he needed something to bask on. So we ordered a set of these rocks. Not only did they arrive quickly but they were PERFECT. Loki loves laying like a pancake on his rock and basking under his light

Thought having some natural rock would be a great addition to my beardie's cage but the first time we took these out to wash them off, they started flaking and breaking apart as they dried. Did not anticipate having to clean his cage twice to make sure he didn't accidentally eat bits of stone... :(

I received 2 pieces of stone, instead of one piece with lizard.

I was expecting it to be a lot thinner. I can’t find thin slates of rock outside so I figured I would buy this rock but for $27 this is not worth it. I could easily pick up a rock like this outside or buy better ones at Home Depot for like $5. Honestly don’t know what I was expecting but this was a rip off for almost $30 for one rock.. go get your reptiles better quality this ain’t it

The rock was enjoyed by my bearded dragon. He likes to scratch his nails on it. Its good for desert biome reptiles for sure.
