I thought I had not received this order but I later found that I did. It is very small and I missed it but it is found it and it seems to be working for my purposes.

Yup. It's still a rock. Nicely sized actual natural slate fragments great for mini basing and diorama.

Nice quality slate stones for many varying uses. I'm using this for basing miniatures, for 25mm and 28mm this is a great size and easy to use.

If you’re looking for succulent/cactus soil gritty mix supplies, skip this one. Unless you have very small plants/pots (ex: Lithops) or are planning on only using it as a top dressing, you will burn through this bag FAST. There are far cheaper alternatives.I admittedly purchased this despite all the reviews mentioning how small it was for the price since I only had a few 2†diameter pots I wanted to use it in. In terms of the quality of stone, I couldn’t be more pleased because no other sellers on Amazon offer such precisely sized and pure (meaning, un-dyed / un-polished) stone. And slate chips were a fun splurge for a more unique type of substrate for some of my low water plants. That being said, I think I’ll try to ration out the rest of this bag carefully because it is tiny! After opening the package I immediately noticed how dusty the slate chips were (as expected) and rinsed them which was surprisingly difficult. Be warned that slate chips this fine stick to your fingers when wet and take forever to dry. That being said, if you’re using them for model making purposes, the dust comes off after a few rinses and the rinsing process did no observable damage to the luster or size of the chips. For use in architectural models I would definitely say this bag (for the quality) is worth the price.
