I'm not the most patient individual, and prepping RJ connectors brought out the worst in me. This time, my buddy suggested pass through RJs, something I had never tried before. Wow, what a difference! I'll never use anything but pass throughs now.

This review is for the 6P4C version.I happened to use a couple successfully on a test cable, but then I I noticed when looking closely that all 6 pass thru holes are there they are just missing the outer 2 crimp contacts. No issue if you double check before crimping that the wires are centered with the outer most holes empty. I happened to order the 6P6C versions too and since these will be used to terminate cat5/cat6 cables in use for bonded DSL, I think I will use the 6P6C and install the outer 2 wires instead of cutting them off, less chance of making a mistake. I found on the test pc that I made that pulling the outer jacket back and cutting the unused wires off shorter than the cover makes more room to fit the jacket into the end of the connector. It could be tighter on the 6P6C connector.

I had to buy the special crimper/cutter these require, but they work so nice! I'll be ordering more.

This product had some quality control issues. After putting on the connectors I noticed some worked, some didn't. After visual inspections I found that many connectors were missing some copper contacts in the end that gets crimped so not all 8 conductors were connected.

These are VERY fussy about the outer diameter of the wire insulation, the pass-through holes are very small, and seem imperceptably smaller than similar designs I've used for RJ45 terminals and cabling. I've tried several vintages and configurations of telco and ethernet wire, of my stock only the Cat6 24AWG8 with 4 twisted pairs and very thin insulation was small enough, leaving unused wire, the RJ11/12 jack only holding 6 max (Cat3 capable, mostly telecom, security systems and the line). I suppose I should try a wire/jeweler drill size to see if they really are smaller.
