bought it to replace the pad on a 8 year old sander, fit great, and made an old sander work like newPS I ordered another one just incase, still havent needed it

This is my 3rd disc pad replacement. The urethane foams typically used don’t hold up in humid So Flo it seems. Original pad lasted nearly 20 years when I lived in Maine. A few years in FL and it disintegrated. I got a 5 hole standard electric pad that lasted 4-5 yrs just recently coming apart. I got this pad and so far it’s working well, it’s a bit firmer but I like it. Been doing a good job on mostly flat cherry I glued up for a bed headboard. Also did some 150-180 grit sanding on the turned posts. A softer pad would be better but I managed ok and the round posts look good. The old porter cable sander is built like a tank and runs great, so it’s good there are 3rd party replacements at reasonable cost. It looks like it’s a quality foam, but only time will tell if it’s more durable. Update - 6 weeks of fairly regular use and it’s holding up well. Most all my psa discs are solid, no vac holes so I don’t need the perforated discs. The add-on vac attachment for my old P-C is like a shroud over the disc area and it works well enough without the holes. I have nothing planned after this project so will be interesting to see if the foam lasts longer than the previous pad when sitting in storage.

I am so far pleased with this backer pad, I had been using my sander on automotive paint removal, 3 of the Porter Cable pads that I had used for years simply fell apart, it may have been their age, or it may be the irregular shapes,but all the same the facing started to separate at the edges and then the foam core disintegrated . So far this pad has held up well and at 1/3 the price of the genuine PC pads I am pleased with the product.

This Sander backing pad is a great bargain. The Porter Cable pad costs many times more than this pad, and I feel that this one is sturdier, because it's a solid piece of firm plastic rather than the weaker foam plastic which Porter Cable uses. Time will tell.

I have a porter cable 7334 type 2 sander and it was in need of a new disk, the Neiko 5 inch disc was a direct replacement at a reasonable price. Only time will tell if it has the same service life.
