Bought these for use with TV remotes. Be aware that you need a receiver module that incorporates a demodulator for this application. The receiver diodes in this kit are not the same thing. They're useful for sensor projects and to see the remote modulation on an oscilloscope.

I received a bad batch. EVERY 5mm IR LED that I tested was bad. They were tested in circuit, with a DVM, and with an autotester, and all failed. The 3mm IR LEDs work fine. The 3mm and 5mm receivers work fine. The photos shows that the 5mm LEDs don't work. For comparison, I included a photo of a 3mm which tested fine. I waited too long to test them so now I cannot get a refund. My recommendation is to steer clear of this brand.

I should have read the reviews. Every 5mm was bad as others have mentioned.

Every 5mm IR LED was bad. The 3mm ones were fine.
