Came as part of a package deal but great value for the money and nicely packaged together.

The wind checkers are great. I like the small size. The compass is junk.

In the past I’ve always use the powder. A quick little tip. You flip up gently squeeze the bottle and a puff of powder kind of shit in the air giving you an idea for the wind is blowing. Recently, I’ve been seeing some other archery hunters, utilize the feathers and I thought you know what I’m gonna give it a try. So I picked up this kit to test it out.Kit comes with a little compass, a small carabiner, and a little key ring. Probably not really necessary to have those other three items but I do appreciate that it comes with essentially five Chapstick like containers that are filled with feathers. That should last me quite a long time as long as I can take care getting feathers out when testing the wind.Things I don’t really like about this; it’s a little challenging, getting the feathers out without pulling the whole mess out. It would be very easy to accidentally waste a bunch of feathers, well utilizing this, just because they are all clumped and stuff together and when you takeoff the cabin start to pull them, especially if you’re in the field can make it quite a challenge.I do like that the feather is very visible, so you can see it moving in the wind very easily. Where is some of the powder seem to dissipate pretty quickly. I’m gonna have to live with this for a little bit to see how much I really like it and whether or not I really feel like it’s a Value ad. But so far it seems like it might work. Gonna have to figure out how to quietly pop that cat pull a feather and put that cap back on without making too much noise in the field. For me, the verdict is still out. Four out of five stars for the clunkiness of having to get the Chapstick cap off and separate out feathers while not wasting a bunch.

Works better than throwing sand or grass into the air.

I find that a tiny single feather of duck down is more useful at gauging the wind than a puff of powder. This method of containing your stash of down in a “chap-stick†tube is much easier and safer than keeping the down in a rubber coin purse or a similar bulky container that leaks down. This nice five-stick kit comes also comes with a mesh pouch, a small liquid-filled compass, a small carabiner and key ring. Happy with this wind-checking system.

The price seems OK. Hunting accessories tend to be expensive. There is some slight wastage each time I open one of the tubes but not too much. This should be a great tool to include in my hunting pack for success this fall.

I am a Police K9 handler that does a lot of tracking training. I got these for checking wind movement when training. These are very easy to use and work well. Although, my application is not for hunting they would work well for wind direction there as well. Do exactly what they are supposed to do and are very economical.
