The P1000 has a great macro setting already, but I wanted to be able to fill the frame and getting really magnified detail. This filter did exactly what I wanted. I was hesitant because the P1000 and P900 both tend to have difficulty focusing with UV filters and color filters , but I had no problem at all with this.

This lens does exactly what it claims to do and makes the P1000 an even better macro camera. I recommend it to anyone that is interested in using their P1000 for macrophotography.

all said and done, this purchase isn't the wisest I've ever made. Once it's on the camera you can only take close ups and its a bit of a pain to change it. It's for the P1000 which takes pretty good bug and bud pictures on it's own and this is over kill.
