Pricey but quality of product offsets. Very clear image across optic. Light rotates 360’ so one can orient the handle either direction. Quality investment.

As I get older, my eyesight is not as good as it was. I have a number of inexpensive 3x and 5x magnifiers, a pair of über-expensive hard-coated Zeiss D12 (4x), but they appear to have been discontinued. I wanted a pair with built-in lighting. The little knob on the side allows you to turn on the LED lighting and direct where it shines.The magnifier uses standard AAA batteries rather than expensive button cells, so that's a plus. Optically it is almost but quite as good as the Zeiss.The difference between good and cheap magnifiers is the good ones have less distortion and yield a sharp image across the entire field of view, which is the case with both Zeiss and Nikon.I just wish for the price Nikon would supply a protective cover for the lens the way Zeiss do.

Excellent clear acrylic magnifier with LED lamp. This one is round, so it doesn't matter so much what angle you hold your wrist at. The rectangular one is larger and its orientation matters, but it might be wide enough for stereoscopic viewing, so consider the comparative advantages of each. They shipped mine straight from Japan, so I got the excellent Japanese manual!
