My son got married in my living room a couple of months ago, and I was bound and determined to make the wedding cake. I like to cook, but rarely bake. And my cakes look like, well, garden-variety frosted home-baked cakes. But you can't make wedding cakes that way (I found that out the hard way on my first practice cake). I watched probably 20 hours of wedding cake tutorials on YouTube and now I understand why wedding cakes are so bloody expensive if you buy them. In several of the videos, they had this big spatula-like, cake-layer lifting tool, so I thought OK... I need that (I am not kidding. I spent at least $100 on cake baking equipment for that freaking cake). I bought it and was stunned at how easy it was to lift layers of cake without the risk of the layer breaking in half, or ruining frosting, or shedding crumbs all about, or transporting the layer any kind of distance, if not immediately next to where it was. It was a clean, easy way to move a flimsy slab of crumbly cake. I mean, I'm not sure I'll ever bake another cake, but by stars, I'm ready if I have to. I haven't used it to lift or move anything else, but it's a nifty thing to have around if I should need to in the future. It's now in my pricey cake-baking arsenal. Maybe I should go into the cake-baking business, LOL.Incidentally, if you ever try to bake a wedding cake, WATCH THE TUTORIALS FIRST. Those aren't the kinds of things you can "wing."

This tool the largest one I’ve found available and it enables me to lift and center the rolled out pie crust onto the pie dish accurately and without tearing.

I like the size.The blade is to thin. I will somehow have to support the end when moving the cake.

I got this to use for layering cakes and I just love it! I don't know how I managed without this for as long as i did. I would have suffered from fewer cracked cakes and 3am rage baking sessions. Just be careful that there isn't any moisture on it when you're trying to get it under a cake, otherwise you're in for a bad time. I haven't used this for anything but baking, but it is really sturdy and seems like it would hold a pizza no problem.

I bought this to use for cakes, I'm a new baker and this sounded perfect to transport cakes/layers. I stuck it under a cake and it went halfway then got stuck. And I couldn't pull it back out either. Ruined my whole cake as it pulled chunks out when I finally took it out. Maybe I'm not using it right, but I was under the impression that it'd be simple.
